Best Solo Settings for ARK Survival Ascended (ASA)

The best solo settings for ASA involve reducing the overall grind that comes from playing the game alone. This means adjusting key options such as resource harvest amount, dinosaur taming speeds, and experience gains—these three settings are what turn ASA into a reasonably enjoyable experience rather than a slow grinding slog.

ASA features a significant amount of settings you can tamper with though, so here are the ones I use for my own successful and fun solo playthrough.

Game Rules - Player

Here I've reduced the water and food drain for the player, so you don't need to replenish these nearly as often. This change, with the addition of increased harvest amounts, makes these two limitations easy to replenish.

Game Rules - Creature

Much like for the player, I've reduced the food drain for dinosaurs so they don't need to eat nearly as often. The biggest change here is the increased harvesting damage, meaning less hits on resources to gather them.

Game Rules - Structure

The only change I made here is toggling off the repair cooldown normally tied to restoring the damaged building. While the default timer wasn't long before, there's no real reason to have it if you're playing alone.

Game Rules - World

This section is where the bulk of the important changes have been made. I boosted the total experience gain, taming speed, and harvest amount, for actions done in the world itself. You should see a significant boost from any activity that required you actively do something, like harvesting materials.

There are also a few additional settings under Advanced I recommend you adjust for the best solo-player experience.

Advanced - World

The key change made here was the reduction of the respawn interval for resources. This translates into resources recharging much faster after you've harvested them once before.

Advanced - Player

For this section, I increased the multiplier that determines how much health and weight you gain per added point upon leveling up. These changes will make it easier for you to survive if you put points into Health, and easier to carry more resources if you put points into Weight.

While most of the changes shown above are minor alone, together, they completely change how you experience ASA for the better. Make absolutely sure you hit the Save Settings button at the bottom of the screen once you're done changing everything. If you don't, you'll have to input each of these again when you restart your game.
