Red Obelisk Cave Entrance Archway Ark Survival Ascended

Red Obelisk Cave Locations in ARK Scorched Earth Ascended (Map)

Two Caves to explore

The Red Obelisk Cave in ARK: Survival Evolved was a big hot spot for resources during a playthrough of Scorched Earth. While it is present in its return in ARK: Scorched Earth Ascended, it is not quite the powerhouse it once was.

Where to find the Red Obelisk Caves in ARK Scorched Earth Ascended (Map)

In the prequel, the main Red Obelisk Cave, as suggested in its title, was near the giant Obelisk with a large beam emitting from its center. In ARK: Scorched Earth Ascended, this remains the case, though the cave has seen some better days to be sure. The exact coordinates for the Red Obelisk Cave are (72.7, 35.3), with the cave itself sitting a short walk away from the giant obelisk. The entrance looks like a ruined archway.

Unfortunately, the cave has been greatly downsized or even outright nerfed in that it is barely even a cave anymore. Instead, when you go to those coordinates and enter the cave, you'll find nothing more than a tunnel leading out into the western portion of the Scorched Earth map. It isn't very long, and much of the roof of the tunnel is not present, hence why "barely a cave" is an accurate description of it.

There are hardly any resources in this 'cave'. Instead, what you'll find is a singular entrance to the upper portion of a ruin in the area, and plenty of hungry carnos looking to gobble you up. Some people might consider the copious presence of carnos to be resources themselves, but I consider resources to be more useful trinkets such as metal and ore — neither of which are present.

There is, however, a second cave near the Red Obelisk that is filled with water. A significant portion of the cave is submerged under the sea, but once you navigate it enough, you'll be presented with a massive open-air cavern perfect for placing a base, especially since it has water nearby. You can find the entrance of this particular Red Obelisk cave at (73.4, 40).

The entrance looks like a normal river end, but if you swim underneath this point, you'll quickly find out it meets more than what the eye can see. Just be careful going down there, as there is quite a bit of submerged swimming you'll need to do to get the actual cavern part of it.

I don't recall this cave being in the prequel version of ARK Survival Evolved's version of Scorched Earth, but it is here in the sequel, so it should be used. The caves of the Red Obelisk vary greatly in their layouts, but there are other plentiful caves in ARK Scorched Earth Ascended to be explored.
