How to Unlock Jacob in Binding of Isaac Repentance

To unlock the new character Jaboc and Esau is actually a massive challenging task as it comes in many different parts. You must find and get two knife pieces, to unlock the alternate womb that unlocks this character.

Part One — First Knife Piece

The first knife piece is in the new area called Downpour. This piece is on the second floor of Downpour, everything has to be cleared, and you need to find a Mirror located in one of the rooms; however, once you have located the Mirror, that is not the last step, as you also need to find some White Fire located on the same floor.

After the White Fire has been found, you have to walk into it and damage yourself. You will then turn into a ghost-type form called The Lost, and you will leave your body behind. Now, as The Lost, you must go back to the Mirror and enter it. When inside the Mirror, you are in an inverse world of the world you just left.

Check your map and head to the Item Room, but all enemies are back, so be extra careful and clear everything out until you get to the Item Room. Inside the room, you will find your first knife piece. You can continue as The Lost, but it'll be incredibly challenging, so it might be wise to go back through the Mirror and continue.

Part Two — Second Knife Piece

The second knife piece is on the second floor of the Mines. On this floor, look in all the rooms for three yellow buttons, and hit them to press them. Upon hitting the last button, this unlocks a Mine Cart, which is somewhere on the floor. Find it, then ride it into a new area.

In this area, you revert into back basic Isaac, for some reason, and on this floor is the second knife piece. It isn't that easy, as the second you acquire that knife piece, an evil face chases you that can/will kill you in one hit.

Your path back may be blocked, so you need to use bombs on the floor to open these back up while avoiding this demonic entity. You need to escape to get the second knife piece, so this section may take you a few tries! It's challenging.

Tip: If you have flight, it will make this area so much more bearable!

Part Three — Killing a Heart

This is a long way challenging path, to be able to get the two knife pieces and then defeat Mom. Upon doing so, a secret red door appears above the red whole you need to shoot with the now complete knife to open.

Entering this door leads you to another boss fight called Mom's Heart. Of course, this is a hearty challenge... no pun intended, and the heart needs to die. Once this is done, you need to go down to the Corpse Floor.

Part Four — Killing a Broken Heart

Go down the hole after the Mom's Heart fight, and enter the Corpse Floor. Complete this floor to get to the boss fight, which is called Mother's Broken Heart. Defeat this boss, and enter the Golden Chest, and credits will roll.

After the credits, you'll have Jacob and Esau unlocked!
