When does Black Myth Wukong release?
Previously, Game Science had stated the game would be released in 2023, but this was changed to an ambiguous date of 2024. Finally, during The Game Awards 2023, it was confirmed that Black Myth Wukong will be released on August 20, 2024.
What is Black Myth Wukong about?
Black Myth Wukong is an action-adventure RPG game developed by Game Science. Players journey through the mythical land as an anthropomorphic monkey character called The Destined One, based on the source material's Sun Wukong (The Monkey King). During Gamescom 2023 Opening Night, a world premiere trailer was released for viewers.
More recently, The Game Awards debuted an updated trailer for the game. The trailer gives fans a peek into some of the epic battles and engaging gameplay that's to come in Black Myth Wukong.

What platforms is Black Myth Wukong on?
Black Myth Wukong will be released on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. There has been no announcement to release Black Myth Wukong on Nintendo Switch or any other systems not mentioned, and an announcement of this sort is unlikely to occur. On PC, players will be able to find it on both Steam and Epic Games Store.
What story is Black Myth Wukong based on?
Black Myth Wukong is based on the story Journey to the West, written in 16th century China. During the novel, a monk by the name of Xuanzang is given three escorting disciples for his journey west of China. The three disciples are Sun Wukong (The Monkey King), Sha Wujing, and Zhu Bajie. The story mixes both fiction and non-fictional accounts of travel through the East Asian countryside. Black Myth Wukong focuses heavily on the folk tale elements of Journey to the West.
