Call of Duty Black Ops 6 lack of carry forward is exactly what fans wanted

Call of Duty Black Ops 6 received its first in-depth look during the recent Xbox Showcase where we were treated to the developers walking fans through all the upcoming changes. One area that was confirmed outside of the BO6 Direct was the Carry Forward mechanic of previous Modern Warfares. (Carry Forward is the initiative that allows all current content of MW2/3 to transfer to the next installment—whether that is skins, weapons, or operator bundles.)

Fans have been jumping on Reddit to share the news that Black Ops 6 will not feature the Carry Froward mechanic of the previous two installments (Modern Warfare 2 and Modern Warfare 3). This comes with some surprise since a handful of weapon leaks shared guns from both MW2, MW3, and Black Ops 6.

User Rayuzx shared the information on the Black Ops 6 subreddit to give everyone the news that Carry Forward is confirmed to not be a part of the upcoming title, which was met with universal applause.

Reddit user MadFlava76 makes a good point about too much content in Warzone, saying, "No carry forward to BO6 is good. There are too many operators and guns if MW2/3 stuff is carried over. But it’s probably a safe bet Warzone will have MW2/3 and BO6 operators, guns, killstreaks, and be a bloated mess."

Thankfully, I do not need to argue the point since User Frosty_chilly jumped into the conversation and stole the words from my mouth, saying, "The issue with retroactive updates is: maps are often designed to be balanced around the content of the game it’s featured in. Omnimovement was probably not a thought to IW or Sledge in the first place."

(Omnimovement is the new movement system being introduced into Black Ops 6 which allows players to move in omni directions for the first time in the series' history.)

This means that jamming the new content into Warzone could cause the mode to become overfilled. I would rather Treyarch take control of Warzone and wipe the slate clean so that the maps, weapons, and equipment are all balanced around Omnimovement.

Continually adding more and more content to satisfy the desires of players who bought store bundles at the expense of gameplay and integrity is a terrible choice. I understand the feelings of players who do not wish to see their money disappear into the ether, but we have to draw a line in the sand somewhere, and Treyarch has decided that line will be drawn between Black Ops 6 multiplayer and Zombies, and MW2 and MW3. In any case, fans are currently letting out a collective sigh of relief, thanking their deities that Black Ops 6 for the most part will not see the goofy skins plague every lobby.

That's all we have on the Black Ops 6 Carry Forward mechanic. If you're looking for more Call of Duty content then check out Casual CoD fan frustrations point to a bigger problem for the series, Warzone is sweatier than ever, and dads are annoyed, and more on Pro Game Guides.
