How to equip and unequip the Gas Mask in Warzone

New manual Gas Mask!

Gas Masks are essential equipment meant to aid players' survival in Call of Duty: Warzone. This gear momentarily protects the user from taking damage from circle gas as well as Gas Grenades.

Previously, the Gas Mask was put on automatically when you entered the gas zone in Warzone Battle Royale. This was changed with the Modern Warfare 3 integration as players now have to manually equip or unequip the item, eliminating the frustrating forced animation that disrupted gunfights.

How to use the Gas Mask in Warzone

When you find a Gas Mask in Warzone, you can press the input for Equip to put it on right away or select Stow to add it to one of your backpack's inventory slots (first image). If you stow the gear, you'll then have to manually press Equip on it from the backpack menu whenever required (second image).

Ideally, I suggest you stow the Gas Mask in your backpack instead of equipping it to avoid its vignette effect as you can see in the image. Although this effect isn't very noticeable, it certainly is present and for the best clarity of vision, you shouldn't equip the Gas Mask at all times. Whenever you're in the gas or about to enter it, just manually equip the equipment from your backpack.

If you did equip the Gas Mask and put it on, you can easily remove it from your inventory. Simply open your backpack and look for the Gas Mask icon in the left corner of the bottom list. Hover over it and press Stow as indicated in the image to add it to your item slot. If all the slots are full, you'll get the option to replace one to put the equipment there.

Where to find the Gas Masks in Warzone

Because a Gas Mask is such a crucial piece of gear, every player must acquire one and keep it stowed for use whenever need be, especially during the endgame. You can find this equipment as ground loot, inside supply chests, and other containers like duffle bags. Alternatively, you can just purchase one from a buy station for $2000 cash. And remember, a Durable Gas Mask is always better as it lasts longer than a regular one.
