Cooked grenade kills!

Thanks to the Armory Unlock and lucrative rewards, every player is now compelled to complete daily and weekly challenges in Modern Warfare 3. One of the challenges you may have is to get kills with a cooked grenade, and here's how to do that.

How to get cooked grenade kills in Modern Warfare 3

There are two lethal equipment that can be cooked in MW3: Frag Grenade and Thermobaric Grenade. I prefer the former as it comes pre-unlocked when you first obtain the ability to customize your loadout. What you need to do is press and hold the lethal input for a brief duration, maybe a second, so that the grenade stays in your hand (see first image). This is called cooking a grenade.

You then need to aim and throw the equipment at a target to get a kill using the cooked grenade. Frag Grenades explode after a fixed time. Therefore, it's best to cook and then throw them at your target, depending on the range. If you just press the lethal input once, your operator will simply pull out the grenade pin and throw it instead of cooking it.

If you're unable to cook grenades, as I've demonstrated, you probably have some settings wrong. Go to Settings > Keyboard & Mouse / Controller > Combat Behaviors > Equipment Behavior. Make sure to set this option to Hold, as that'll allow you to press and hold the lethal input (R1/RB on a controller and E on a keyboard) to cook the grenade.

Remember not to cook for too long, or else the grenade will blow up in your hands, killing you. However, you can use this technique to explode the grenade next to your enemy, which will kill you and them but will earn you the challenge progress.
