Smuggler’s Drop Key – DMZ (Map Locations)

A key to unlock the Smuggler's Drop Cache.

In DMZ, players can find plenty of keys that unlock corresponding closed spaces such as duffle bags, containers, doors, crates, etc. As you unlock them, you are guaranteed to get good loot or even special items, which is why stocking up on keys can be incredibly useful. For example, Smuggler's Drop Key is an item that unlocks the Smuggler's Drop Cache on the Vondel map. However, you'll need to know the exact location of the Smuggler's Drop Cache and how to acquire the key in the first place. Here's how you can get the Smuggler's Drop Key in Call of Duty DMZ.

The Smuggler's Drop Key unlocks the Smuggler's Drop Cache located inside an L-shaped building at map sector D2 in the northwestern part of the Castle POI in the Vondel map. You should be able to spot this building by checking your tac map. Check the yellow circle on the map image above to see the exact location of where to find the Smuggler's Drop Key. Be careful, as the Castle POI has two enemy operator spawns, so you might encounter opponents here.

How to get the Smuggler's Drop Key in DMZ

Before you queue in on the Vondel map, make sure to keep the Smuggler's Drop Key in your backpack. While I found this key randomly, a good way to get keys is to eliminate HVT Contracts, as these bosses tend to drop them once defeated. Other than that, make sure to check the duffle bags, loot caches, clothes, crates, lockers, and closed containers for keys. Also, keep an eye out for the Supply Drops, as these often drop special items and keys.

Once you have located the L-shaped building at Castle, head inside. I tend to look over my shoulder a lot, as there could be AI bots lurking around or enemies waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike. After entering the building, you should find the Smuggler's Drop Crate by the door to your left. The crate is pretty easy to spot thanks to its distinctive dark green color.

During my run, I did not have to use a Stronghold Key Card to open the door to the L-shaped building. However, this location might spawn as a Stronghold, or it might have a Raid Weapons Stash. In that case, you might want to keep a Stronghold Key Card in your backpack before queueing in on the Vondel map. Stronghold Key Cards can also be bought from the Buy Stations. If you don't have enough cash, then start eliminating AI forces to get a Key Card.

Smuggler's drop Key loot in DMZ

Once you unlock the Smuggler's Drop Crate using the key, you will get the following items: Locker Room Key, an Encrypted Hard Drive, and a Smuggler's Note. I recommend finding the Smuggler's Drop Key to unlock the crate because you will need the Locker Room Key to unlock the Locker Room inside the Stadium POI. Inside it, you will find the Bridge Stash Key and with it, you can unlock the Bridge Stash Crate which contains the Diver Crate Key and a Golden Skull. It's pretty rare to find this, so it's absolutely worth it.
