Call of Duty: Vanguard provided a spectacular upgrade to Zombies. While the fundamentals of the mode remained the same, one major aspect, the gameplay style, was changed. In Vanguard Zombies, players have to complete "Objectives" and unlock new areas and quests on the map.
This change failed to appeal to the Zombies community as a whole. As such, to please the fans and bring back players, the developers have decided to reintroduce the original concept to the game. Treyarch has announced that round-based Zombies is coming to Vanguard in Season 4.
