Concord accessibility features include controller bindings, color options, and more

With Firewalk Studios' new vibrant FPS multiplayer Concord soon to airdrop on PS5 and PC for players everywhere, a firsthand preview of the game's diverse accessibility features has been revealed, with Principal Gameplay Designer Prof Brown going into detail about the development cycle and what we can expect on day one.

Brown emphasizes that developing an exciting game like Concord "that has something for as many people as possible to enjoy" was a priority throughout the entire process, rather than an afterthought. In other words, the gameplay and everything in between were carefully crafted around the goal of absolute accessibility for all players, instead of creating the entire game first and then adding taped-on accessibility features at the end.

This is especially reflected in how each of Concord's playable characters was developed, particularly in terms of their combat abilities. For instance, Lark's weapon doesn't require precise aiming or a direct line of sight to land hits on a target; it fires a large projectile that bursts into smaller homing projectiles that then seek out the enemy. Jabali's arsenal highlights a similar feature, while Daw and Kyps prioritize team support rather than combat. When needed, however, their weapons utilize burst fire, which also doesn't require absolute accuracy.

Other particularly enticing features include a dynamic ping system for the map that players can use to manually pinpoint important locations during a match, to highlight where enemies are, or where to group up defensively. Even better, a "directional vibration" feature and character voice-over further enhance this interactive tool.

Alongside that, players can look forward to various sensitivity settings that can be adjusted for any level of comfort. This includes actions that require "double pressing", as well as mouse and stick sensitivity for camera and character movement. Adjustments can also be made to the "camera shake" and "weapon bob" features, for those with visual sensitivity.

All in all, Concord is not only set to be one of the most addictively fun new multiplayer FPS games but definitely one of the most accessible FPS games there is altogether. No matter which game mode you prefer, Concord will ensure that the experience is both action-packed and comfortable for all senses.
