How to farm Favour fast in Crab God

While gathering food is the basis of progress in Crab God, obtaining and managing your Favour is actually the key to surviving and migrating your fleet of Crablings further into the ocean. The deeper you go and the more Crablings you recruit, the more Favour you'll need to handle the journey, so here's our handy guide for how to farm Favour fast in Crab God.

Keeping a consistently high amount of Favour at your disposal is pivotal to progressing through the more challenging stages of the ocean in Crab God. You'll need to manage an ever-growing roster of Crablings, plant larger amounts of food, discover more treasures, unlock difficult Ritual Stones, establish a greater variety of sea life, fend off more powerful aquatic enemies, and more.

Thankfully, there are some key methods to keep your Favour stores from drying up, and we recommend employing these tactics as early as possible. They include:

  • Keep at least 2-3 Worshipper Crablings at your Temple of the Tide at all times - A Worshipper's primary responsibility is generating consistent sums of Favour via your Temple, and this is where most of it will always come from. So choose your designated Worshipper Crablings and don't switch their roles, day or night.
    • Remember to give your Worshippers Favour-related Trait buffs at the end of each stage. This will further increase their output, making your Temple a Favour powerhouse.
  • Give your other Crablings Favour Trait buffs - While Worshippers get priority for these buffs, other roles such as Gardener, Scavenger, and Builder can benefit from Favour Trait buffs as well. Some generate Favour based on distance traveled, food planted, and walls built. This also helps negate the cost of the tasks they complete, so for the most part, you're not working at a loss.
  • Prioritize tasks that reward Favour first - When first starting a stage, you'll want to get your Crablings going on clearing the area quickly. Have your Scavengers dig up treasures, your Builders clear obstacles and build walls (if unlocked via Ritual Stones), and your Gardeners clear Caulerpa plants.
  • Keep your Crabling roles consistent - Changing the roles of your Crablings too often can lead to your Favour getting drained quickly, which can leave you vulnerable when night comes. Try to keep at least half your Crabling roster in a consistent role from one stage to the next, to help mitigate that aspect of Favour cost.

If you get into the habit of using these methods in tandem with any ones you feel personally work for you, you should find it progressively easier to manage your Favour throughout the game, even on the more challenging stages. This is especially important for the higher difficulties where you have to employ some very creative strategies to survive more unforgiving day cycles.

How does Favour work in Crab God?

As you start your first stage of migration in Crab God, you'll soon notice that in order to complete any type of task, your Crablings need various amounts of Favour to do so. Favour is essentially a currency bestowed by the Crab God itself that takes the form of bright white orbs (seen above). The more Favour you have at your disposal, the more efficient your Crablings will be at uncovering everything the stage has to offer and completing it.

You begin each migration stage you reach with a set amount of Favour to make use of. Your Favour level can be seen at the bottom right corner of the screen (seen above). The earliest stages give you 230 Favour, and as you progress and build your roster of Crablings, that amount of Favour will increase.

Favour is used for just about everything, including planting and upgrading Food and Coral, attracting local sea life, clearing obstacles, building protective walls, digging up treasure, and using Ritual Stones to gain powerful permanent buffs. Additionally, Favour is how you change your Crablings' roles, and some roles cost more than others.

Make note that no matter how much Favour you have at the end of a migration stage, it will automatically reset upon reaching the next stage. So there's no need to stress about building it up before you move on.
