Darkest Dungeon 2 DLC marks the return of The Crusader

The first DLC is coming to Darkest Dungeon 2, adding a long-requested hero back to the game: the Crusader. Keep reading below to discover everything you need to know about the Darkest Dungeon 2 The Binding Blade DLC and the addition of The Crusader.

When does Darkest Dungeon 2 The Binding Blade DLC release?

Red Hook Studios revealed via YouTube the December release of The Binding Blade, the first DLC for Darkest Dungeon 2. The DLC introduces two characters, new trinkets, signature items, and a new roaming mini-boss that can encountered on your journey to the Mountain. Unfortunately, no word of balance changing was mentioned with The Binding Blade DLC, but patch notes for the DLC may reveal this.

The biggest addition of The Binding Blade DLC is the long-awaited Crusader, a fan-favorite character from the original Darkest Dungeon. Reynauld played a pivotal role in the balance of many teams and the story of Darkest Dungeon; players can once again wield the Crusader's holy fire and smite their foes as they face ever-increasing danger.

In addition to the Crusader, players can use the Duelist, a disciplined and deadly warrior who can switch between an aggressive and defensive stance. The Duelist can move between ranks, allowing her to attack from the front or back rank. The Duelist seems to play a pivotal role in the DLC, pushing through barricades and evil to reach the last of the Crusaders.

Both the Crusader and Duelist come with fully voiced backstories, playable flashback encounters, and new items to expand your strategies. No official date was given for the release outside of the January 2024 window, but I cannot wait to add the Crusader to my ragtag band of heroes.
