Former Destiny 2 community manager DMG returning to Bungie

Destiny 2 has entered the age of The Final Shape and has just released its first episode granting players more seasonal content to dig into. An unrelated but equally welcome announcement was also shared yesterday that beloved community manager DMG is returning to Bungie.

DMG jumped onto X (formerly known as Twitter) to let the community know that he will be returning to Bungie on June 24, less than two weeks away. Among the positive comments in the tweet, there are plenty of friendly memes welcoming DMG back into the arms of Destiny's community.

As soon as the news dropped Reddit was abuzz at the announcement. The vast majority were happy to see a trusted part of the community back at Bungie to enact (hopefully) positive change. Some comments pondered on DMG's situation at Riot Games where the conversation quickly led to poor working conditions. Regardless, we have one of our favorite community leaders back with the franchise which can only spell good things for Destiny's future.

Further into the conversation surrounding DMG's return are people heralding him as "extremely important" for the culture of the game. A steady voice at the head of the community can have a massive, positive impact on the relationship between fans and developers.

For those unaware of DMG and his work with the community may not know how he changed the landscape of communication and openness from Bungie. There wasn't a specific incredible moment that cemented DMG as an amazing Community Lead, it was the constant care and attention he dedicated to the fans. Unfortunately, this backfired on DMG as a small section of the community decided to abuse his transparent communication by sending him death threats. This is sadly a potential hazard when putting yourself between a giant game development studio and the fanbase.

That's everything we have on DMG's return to Bungie. If you're looking for similar Destiny 2 content then check out The Red Death Reformed is a divisive weapon in Destiny 2: The Final Shape, All Destiny 2 Final Shape Campaign Missions, and more at Pro Game Guides.
