Diablo IV Strongholds Explained

Strongholds are a new feature in Diablo IV. These are areas that demons have captured, and you must clear this demonic occupation. They can be found in all five zones and must be completed solo or in a party. Once cleared, they open up to other players and become a public place. Keep an eye out for red skulls on your mini-map to discover strongholds.

Every Stronghold has a unique story with different objectives, bosses, puzzles, and more. Rewards vary depending on which Stronghold you clear, making it worthwhile to clear them all. Strongholds become public space after being cleared, offering a player-friendly town, dungeons, a side quest hub, and rewarding the player with renown. It also leaves a waypoint behind, unlocks a shortcut, and reveals a Legion Event.

Strongholds will offer players a new experience and give Diablo IV more content to enjoy. However, strongholds won't be easy, especially on Hardcore, so ensure you are prepared before attempting to clear. The demonic forces within won't take kindly to your presence.
