Which cache should I choose from the Tree of Whispers in Diablo 4?

Orange equals Good

The Tree of Whispers calls to you, whispers to you, and If you're here, then you've likely already begun Diablo 4's extensive endgame. The Tree's offerings are plentiful, offering you a choice of three caches upon completing enough of its requests. The question is: which one should you take? Well, let's say I've had my fill of the Tree of Whispers. I can tell you everything you need to know about its joyous rewards.

What cache should you pick from the Tree of Whispers in Diablo IV?

Generally, it is a good idea to take Legendary Cache regardless of its type; these are called Greater Collection. So, for example, a Greater Collection of Two-Handed Swords. If not an option, select the cache that you need the most. If you need Gauntlets, select Collection of Gauntlets. Though, from my experience, there's a potential to get any piece of equipment from any cache, the name of the cache has a greater chance of dropping. I got swords so many times from anything but a one-handed collection.

Aspect farming is a thing in Diablo 4, especially if you're looking for that elusive god roll for a specific one. While the Tree of Whispers offers up caches that can contain every type of equipment in the game, the specification of each cache determines which item piece you are most likely to receive from it. Each gear type can only have certain Aspects, but that doesn't matter, considering that many of them crossover with each other. As such, taking a Legendary cache almost always guarantees you at least one Legendary item drop, which will have an Aspect that can be extracted.

Diablo 4 Tree of Whispers Guide

For clarity's sake, let's discuss the Tree of Whispers so we're on the same page. Once you complete Diablo 4's campaign, the Tree offers bounties, or Whispers, that send you to purge the Tree's enemies all over Sanctuary. On your map, these are all the red icons you see, each with its own unique objectives. Upon completion of enough Whispers, which earn you Grim Favor, the Tree calls you back to its roots and offers you three different caches as rewards.

What are Whispers in Diablo 4?

Whispers are the bounties the Tree of Whispers gives to you once you've completed the main campaign. As just mentioned, they appear as blood-red icons on your map, and they come in different flavors. Effectively, treat them like new quests, as they can even track like a general quest. Completing a Whisper earns you a specific amount of Grim Favor. Note, that Whisper bounties come in sets and will expire once their timer has hit zero. When this happens, a new set of Whisper bounties will appear elsewhere in Sanctuary. You can find them just by looking at your World Map.

What are Grim Favors in Diablo 4

In order to earn the ability even to choose a cache from the Tree of Whispers, you must collect a total of 10 Grim Favors first. These are earned from the completion of Whispers, and the amount you get depends on the difficulty and longevity of the Whisper you decide to go after. For example, if you choose to do a Whisper dungeon, they will always earn you five Grim Favors, half the required amount. If you decide to go for a simple Whisper World quest, they will earn one Grim Favor. I recommend just doing the dungeons that appear if you can efficiently clear them.
