The Expansion pass is unfortunately not included with the base game of Disney Dreamlight Valley. It is seen as an Expansion or DLC on top of the base platform and will require a separate purchase. If you've already purchased the base game, you can purchase the Expansion Pass separately, or if you haven't yet purchased the base game, you can purchase them together in a bundle. It is available for all platforms, the main game was: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. You can purchase it via the Disney Dreamlight Valley site or on your platform's game store. Here are the prices:

  • Gold Edition (Base Game + Expansion) - $69.99
  • Expansion Pass - $29.99

Should you get the Disney Dreamlight Valley Expansion Pass?

There is no denying that A Rift in Time delivers on content, giving us a handful of new biomes, a new Royal Tool, all new ingredients and recipes, new characters to develop friendships with, and plenty of new quests to complete. It is well worth the cost of it, considering it is a whole new game within the game. If you've already finished everything in the base game, it's definitely worth getting it so you can continue having content to complete. However, there are some downsides to the Expansion Pass you should be aware of.

While the Expansion Pass does provide more to do in the game, the developers have noted that they will continue to add content into the base game as well, making it not quite as necessary to have the expansion. Players have also discussed the expansion has made the game feel less cozy, especially since you have to teleport back and forth between the two realms. The number of new bugs and issues have also put a damper on this DLC, taking away from the fun just a little. The biggest factor for me that makes it almost not quite worth it is that the base game is available on Xbox Game Pass, meaning you can play it basically for free, so why bother spending money on the expansion?

There are pros and cons to the Expansion Pass, and it definitely comes down to whether or not you're looking for fresh content or are content with what you have and willing to wait for more to be added to the base game. If you decide to binge on A Rift in Time, you'll undoubtedly enjoy discovering all the new wonders. It's all up to you!
