How is Scout Rate calculated in Dragon Quest Monsters The Dark Prince

It's like capturing Pokémon, but you can't actually see the success rate...

Scouting is the main way of "capturing" monsters in Dragon Quest Monsters, with higher scout rates equalling more chances of success. In this guide, we'll talk about multiple factors that affect how scout rate is calculated in The Dark Prince.

How to increase Scout Rate in Dragon Quest Monsters The Dark Prince

A higher scout rate on monsters means they're more likely to join your team—which makes it essential to know about these factors that affect Scout Rates based on our observations:

  1. Defeating local tournaments/bosses increases Scout Rates for monsters within the region. Doing this strategy before scouting monsters is an effective way of instantly having a higher Scout Rate at the beginning of the battle.
  2. Every monster has one stat inclination (Attack, Wisdom, etc.). The collectively more you have of their preferred stats in your party, the higher the increase of your Scout Rate.
  3. We also found that inflicting any sort of status condition or debuff against their preferred stat will increase Scout Rate.
  4. Conversely, if the enemy is buffed in their preferred stat, the Scout Rate goes down.
  5. Much like any monster capture game, decreasing your enemy's HP will increase its Scout Rate. Although decreasing a monster's HP to 1 is nearly impossible due to having no visual representation of the remaining HP, any attack on a monster will increase your Scout Rate.
  6. If you already have a monster you're currently scouting, your Scout Rate will significantly drop. However, if you decide to synthesize the monster (Feralball in this example), your Scout Rate will return to normal when you encounter a Feralball again.
  7. You can also opt to use items like Monster Munchies to increase their odds of joining your party. Be prepared to spend a lot of money on these items as they are expensive, especially in early game.

Knowing these factors will definitely improve your chances of capturing a monster and having them join your party. I recommend you use this knowledge in tandem with instantly changing seasons so you can easily get the specific monster you want to add to your team.
