Choosing the right ammo for your weapon is an essential thing for success in any survival game. That's why we made the Escape From Tarkov ammo tier list so that you can pick the best type of ammo from a vast spectrum of choices.
In this game, the resources are very scarce, including humanitarian supplies, food, weapons and ammunition, and even keys. Managing the resources is much easier if you know which ones are worthy of your time.

Best ammo in Escape from Tarkov
SP-6 9x39
The 9x39 is a really good ammunition caliber, but previous wipes put 7.62 in favor. Thankfully, the latest meta allowed for this ammo to shine. It is pretty expensive, but you can craft it in big numbers.
PS 7.62x54
All 7.62 ammo, in general, is the best in the game. This is the best ammunition you can buy directly, and it has enough penetration force to go through any armor.
AP-M .366
This is the best time if you want to save money but also have a reliable weapon. The only flaw of .366 ammo is the severe limitations of the types of guns that use it.
M80 7.62X51
This is one of the budget monsters available early in the game. It's cheap, reliable, and has plenty of penetration power that is always used against all armor types.
Most accessible ammo in Escape From Tarkov
The tier list above looks pretty intimidating with all the ammunition listed. However, the highest-tier ammo types are challenging to obtain, and there are very few of them. Most of the best rounds are not available by the Traders and are banned on the Flea Market, which is why we put down a short list of the best attainable ammunition in Escape From Tarkov. You can find those ammo types reasonably easily during the gameplay or buy them in Flea Markets or from Traders.
