How to power the lift in Fatal Frame Mask of the Lunar Eclipse

Don't stop me now!

Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse has a ton of horrifying and difficult puzzles for you to encounter. One of these many puzzles occurs in Phase IV: Void. This puzzle requires you to find the underground switchboard room in order to power the lift and reach the fourth floor. However, the puzzle isn't that easy considering that the switchboard has five switches that each depict a different number. The goal is to flip the switches so that the numbers that they depict total up to 23.

The code for the switchboard can be found in the file, Information About Lift. Once you've reached the underground switchboard room, you'll need to flip all of the switches down except for the very first two as well as the last one, as pictured below. In order, the numbers shown should be four, two, nine, zero, and eight.

After this, you'll hear that the lift has switched on, indicating that you'll be able to use it. It's important to note that in this room, there are no hint photos, but you will encounter a ghost named Patrolling Man just as you are about to leave. You'll want to ready your camera and take a shot before he disappears so that you can earn points.
