How to win all Legendary Bouts in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

To gain access to Legendary Bouts, you have to unlock it first by defeating Gilgamesh on Gilgamesh Island. After that, you'll have Brutal and Legendary Bouts unlocked. These Bouts are especially challenging for new Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth players, so you better prepare your characters well before trying them.

Legendary Bouts makes a single character face waves of tough monsters, and there are nine of them.

Cloud vs. The Warriors

Cloud faces fire waves of tough soldiers, and they are very eager to attack. For this Bout, Cloud's build should be defensive, so he could mitigate the damage in case he gets hit. Equip Limit Gauge Guard and Gotterdammerung so you can build your Limit Gauge by blocking.

Other Materia we recommend are the following:

  • Haste
  • Elemental-Lightning
  • Elemental-Fire
  • Barrier
  • Breach
  • Chakra

Barret vs. The Colossi

Colossi deals huge damage, so for this, Bout, Barrett has to stay on defense, using Cura and Reraise a lot. If Barret equips Elemental-Fire on his Bracer, Colossi can heal him when they attack him with Fire spells.

Use Cura instead of Curaga to save MP for Reraise and offensive spells. You will also use MP Absorption-Fire, Ice Materia, and Trade-Off to replenish your MP.

Tifa vs. The Martialists

Tifa has to use her skills in time manipulation and ATB gauge building. First Strike and Time are Tifa's most crucial materials for this build since they allow her to cast Haste right away and replenish ATB Charges while she waits for the counterattack.

Skill Master Materia lets Tifa spam her abilities, and Warding-Poison and Petrify prevent her from getting Petrified. Finally, Elemental-Fire and Ice is useful against Jabberwock's weakness against fire.

Aerith vs. The Magi

Every Aerith vs. The Magi round should always start with an ATB Boost, followed by Arcane Ward and an Elemental spell or Haste and Radiant Ward, in that order.

If you leveled up your party over level nine, you unlocked Transcendence Folio for Aeirth. Transcendence needs time to charge up to Transcendence II, but it deals massive damage, so keep it active whenever you can.

Exploiting your enemies' elemental weaknesses will damage them a lot. When you don't have any ATB, save your limit break for urgent healing. If you need a quick MP refill, use Soul Drain on Staggered foes.

Red XIII vs. the Beasts

Open every round with Haste, then unleash your Limit Break. After that, cast Barrier/Manawall, prepare Retaliation by building Vengeance Mode/ATB. Retaliation needs two ATB gauges and Vengeance mode activated, but it deals massive damage when countering.

All enemies in Red XIII's Legendary Bout are weak to ice damage so Elemental-Ice is another good Materia to use. Keep in mind that Red's Limit Break restores his HP and MP.

Yuffie vs. The Wronged

You need to equip Elemental-Fire and Ice, as well as Lightning and Wind on your bracer, so Yuffie can use and absorb all elemental attacks. Subversion is a necessary addition to remove Joker's buffs, and First Strike will cast Haste right at the beginning of every round.

Other Materia we recommend are Skill Master, for constant spamming of commands, and Healing.

Cait Sith vs. the Abominable

Put ATB Charge Rate Up Materia as your weapon skill so you'll get Limit Break faster. Don't attack your enemies, and wait for the Limit Break, and with some luck, you'll be able to use it again. There is a 1 in 2 chance the Limit Break won't empty the bar, and two Limits will make the rounds much easier. Use Moogle Knuckle on Staggered enemies to greatly increase Staggered damage.

Also, keep off the Moogle for most of the time, and use him as a distraction so you can use Cait Sith to sneak up on your enemies.

Bonds of Friendship

If possible, do the next Legendary Bout first so you can learn how to deal with Titan Summons with a much more useful partner, Sephiroth. Begin every round with Magnify-Haste, and fill three Synergy charges by using offensive abilities. Triple Slash - Aerial Onslaught combo is a good example.

After that, use SOLDIER's Honor.

Don't use Cloud's Limit Break after SOLDIER's Honor, so it could upgrade to level two or even three if you wait another turn. At moments, Zack will have temporarily unlimited MP, so use it to heal with Curaga and cast Manawall on both characters.

Every time you use a Synergy ability, cast Manawall again on both, even better if you have Magnify on Manawall.

Since you can summon only once in ten rounds, save it for the last two rounds. We recommend using Phoenix, especially if you are low on MP, because you can cast Reraise with Phoenix instead of spending MP.

To Be a Hero

Start every round using the abilities that will fill up three Synergy charges, like the Triple Slash - Aerial Onslaught combo. After that, use a Double Helix. Don't spend your limit break right away, but wait until it charges up to level three.

Sephiroth has a temporarily unlimited MP, so cast Magnify-Manawall, then Reraise as a safety precaution in case one of the characters dies.

If any of you get hurt, use Magnify-Curaga with Sephiroth; otherwise, cast strong spells during the unlimited MP period. Recast Manawall every time you use a Synergy Ability, and Reraise if any of your characters die. Another good trick is to put Magnify-Haste on Cloud so both of them can be Hasted.
