How to catch a Legendary Fish fast in Fortnite

This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Fortnite has recently beefed up their fishing mechanics in Chapter 2: Season 4. There's a whole lot more fish to catch, and you can even fill up your fishing book with all the different species you've collected. These require you to fish in various water types, use an upgraded fishing rod, and even fish during certain times of the day. There are also different rarities, which leads us to the point of this guide! We'll show you how to quickly nab one of the elusive legendary fish that you need to complete a challenge in week 6.

Nabbing a Legendary Fish

To catch a legendary fish in Fortnite, you have three options available to you: Thermal Fish, Midas Flopper, and the Vendetta Flopper. Unfortunately, the Midas fish requires you to be near The Authority, so we won't be able to grab that one. The Thermal Fish and Vendetta Flopper can be caught anywhere, but the Vendetta requires the usage of a Pro Fishing Rod. To catch one of these fast, we'll be headed to an island that will get us a quick fishing rod, access to upgrading it, and a whole lot of spawns to fish from.

To get to the best location to complete this challenge, you will want to go to the island northwest of Craggy Cliffs. There's a fishing hut on this island, and underneath it is an upgrade bench. There's a couple of barrels to get fishing rods out of and you can even get a harpoon if you're lucky.

I highly recommend to do this in Team Rumble, because once you grab the fishing rod, you can immediately upgrade it without having to harvest anything. If you got a harpoon out of one of the barrels or from the ground loot, then you should use that for fishing because it's a lot faster. Using the Pro Fishing Rod, however, will give you a chance to catch both varieties of legendary fish.

Once you have your rod or harpoon, start circling the island and fishing all of the hot spots that are in the water. These are where fish will be jumping up out of the water. Fish them out until they disappear and then move onto the next one. There's a bit of luck involved with how long this will take, but there are so many hot spot here that you will likely get it quite quickly.

If you can't find the area or are stumped on how to do this, be sure to check out the video below.
