How to run faster in Fortnite

The new movement mechanic.

Fortnite now allows players to get a momentary speed boost while running via the new tactical sprint feature. You can sprint way faster than the regular sprinting speed by pressing one button given your stamina bar isn't empty. Here's a guide on how to run faster in Fortnite.

The game's default controls to enable tactical sprint on various platforms are as follows:

  • Keyboard (PC): Left Shift
  • PlayStation Controller: L3
  • Xbox Controller: Left Stick

While the same input is used to move or run on a controller, pressing the left analog stick enables the tactical sprint feature. The Left Shift button is for sprinting on a keyboard, and pressing the same keybind again gives you the speed boost you need.

One important thing to keep in mind is that the speed boost is temporary, and it lasts as long as you have stamina left. However, the stamina bar depletes and restores rapidly in seconds. Once the stamina meter regenerates, you can run faster again.

You should perform the tactical sprint in Fortnite with caution, as you will not be able to use your weapon while doing so. Nonetheless, you can cancel the speed boost whenever you want. This neat feature allows players to quickly engage or disengage from a fight.
