How to turn off Voice Reporting in Fortnite

Since Fortnite allows voice chatting, we already know it can be pretty toxic sometimes. However, that might change with Fortnite's new age restrictions and Voice Reporting features.

Players will now have the option to allow Voice Reporting, meaning players will have to be extra careful about what they say to each other. This may seem unpleasant to some, but thankfully, there are some ways to turn it off. Here are all the details.

Fortnite Turning Voice Reporting on and off guide

Voice Reporting is a feature that allows voice chats to be recorded up to 5 minutes prior and saved securely on the device you are playing on. These can then be sent to Epic for review. This is to prevent inappropriate behavior or bullying from happening via voice chat and implement a punishment for those who are caught doing so.

Players 18+ will have the option to turn it on and off as they please. Here's how.

You can just head to your Settings and navigate to the Audio tab at the top of the screen, symbolized by the volume icon. You will now see the Voice Reporting option within the Voice Chat settings. If your account is an 18+ account, you can choose to set this as "Off When Possible." This means it will automatically be turned off unless a player joins with the setting turned on. In that case, other players can still record your chat as needed. Unfortunately, there is no way around this except for turning your Voice Chat off or muting your mic.

Players under 18 years of age must have Voice Reporting turned on to use the voice chat function. You will be unable to select the "Off When Possible" setting. This is to ensure you are always protected and have the option to report unethical behavior you encounter. If you don't want the setting on, you will need to disable your Voice Chat altogether or keep your mic muted. However, you can also have your parent or guardian adjust your voice settings in the Parental Controls.

These features, much like the age ratings and restrictions, are meant to keep all players safe while they enjoy the game, but we understand they can be a bit frustrating. Hopefully, this helped you figure out some options to continue enjoying the game.
