What is Lost Castle 2?

Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

Lost Castle 2 is a 2D rogue-lite beat-’em-up sequel to 2016's Lost Castle game. The game is one continuous and repeating adventure, where death doesn't mean you respawn - it means you start back at the beginning of your route with all of your money in-tact.

That's it, though! You'll have to work your way up to better armor and weapons through each adventure, taking on zombies, rock constructs, and other monsters wielding bows and knives. Don't worry, you'll be able to use a bit of your own hack-and-slash strategy to get through the minions, while the big boys will require you to think on your feet before a bomb throws you halfway across the map.

Weirdly, Lost Castle 2 has some cozy vibes, despite the giant scissor-wielding boss who obviously never heard that you shouldn't run with scissors.

How to change your avatar's appearance

While you can change the appearance of your avatar right at the start of the game, it's also possible to change it later. If you watch to switch up your hairstyle, hair color, eye color, or any other feature, you can speak to the Stylist when you're in camp before or after an adventure.

The Stylist is found at the bottom of the camp, opposite the cauldron. Speaking to him will take you back to the same character creation screen you had at the start of the game, allowing you to change your appearance as often as you'd like.

How to change your weapon drop preferences

  • Talking to Serena in Lost Castle 2.
  • Changing your weapon drop preferences in Lost Castle 2.

If you don't want to go on an adventure with all six types of in-game weapons active, you can change your weapon drop preferences before you leave the camp.

To change which weapons drop during your adventure, speak to Serena the Blacksmith when you're in camp. You can find her across from the blonde NPC with the rabbit ears, she has mint-green hair and wears a hood.

You must select at least three types of weapons from the list, but you can change your preferences any time you're back in camp.

How to upgrade your weapon

Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

To upgrade your weapon, you'll need to find an Ethereal Furnace. These are found in the merchant's area during your adventure, and have orange crystals in the middle of a circle.

You will need to spend Iron Ingots to use the Ethereal Furnace, which you can get by dismantling weapons, armor, and other items at the end of any area.

The first upgrade you do will cost 70 Iron Ingots, the second costs 100, and the price rises from there with each upgrade. It's best to find your preferred weapon before you upgrade one because of the high cost.

How to enchant your weapon

Like the Ethereal Furnace, you will need to find an Ethereal Enchantment Device to enchant your weapon. The first one of these appears in the mountains, so you won't be able to enchant any weapons until you reach this point on the map.

  • First weapon enchantment in Lost Castle 2.
  • Second weapon enchantment in Lost Castle 2.

Enchanting weapons costs Iron Ingots, and you can have up to three enchantments on any one weapon. If you decide to enchant the weapon further, you will need to choose an enchantment to erase so that you can have the new one on your weapon.

It costs 20 Iron Ingots to enchant a weapon.

How to use Alchemy Mixtures

Alchemy Mixtures can be picked up after clearing an area of monsters. They are extremely rare because there are only 11 of them to collect.

When you find an Alchemy Mixture from a treasure chest, it gets added to your collection back at camp.

To use any of the Mixtures, you just need to have it in your Alchemy Amulet before you go on an adventure. You'll be able to see if there's a Mixture in your Alchemy Amulet by going into your inventory and navigating down to the relevant slot on the far left.

To change your Alchemy Mixture, you will need to be back in camp. Locate the cauldron in the middle of the camp and interact with it - you can also interact with the Alchemist next to it, but he'll open the same pop-up with all of your Mixtures on display.

At the beginning of your adventure, it's likely that you'll only have - and be able to use - one Alchemy Mixture.

To put it in your Amulet, you just need to select it so that a green dot appears on the Mixture in the menu.

If you want to be able to hold more than one Mixture in your Alchemy Amulet, you'll need to pay for some camp upgrades.

In the center section of the camp upgrade menu, fix the Alchemist's Hut, and then upgrade the various items until you reach the third row up. This row has two Expanded Amulet upgrades that you can use to have up to three Mixtures in your Alchemy Amulet at any one time.

Lost Castle 2 Walkthrough - How to beat all bosses

Beating any of these bosses will give you one of the achievements available by playing Lost Castle 2 through Steam.

Each boss has their own annoying way of attacking, from charging with scissors to throwing giant boulders. By using the guides below, you'll know what to expect from each boss before your fight and how to beat them.

How to beat the Goblin Champion

Fighting the Goblin Champion in Lost Castle 2.
Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

The Goblin Champion is a hard-hitter. You'll experience falling rocks, a charging monster who can knock you down if you're in its path, and more.

Thankfully, there is a pattern to this utter destruction. The Goblin Champion will thump the ground in the direction you last stood in, and it'll do this twice. You can dodge by rolling out of the way or just running outside of his range (for the thumps, that's directly next to the Goblin Champion).

Fighting the Goblin Champion in Lost Castle 2.
Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

Following those thumps, he will try to jump on you by leaping into the air with a huge target circle. Wait for the Goblin Champion to leap before you move and then just roll out of the way of the target circle.

Next is the hard part. Several purple targets will appear on the ground to indicate that rocks are about to fall. While they're falling, the Goblin Champion will charge at you. To avoid these two incidences, you'll need to avoid the target areas of the rocks, and then dodge in the opposite direction of the Goblin Champion just before he reaches you. It might take you a couple of tries to get the timing down, but don't take much longer than that, or you'll die faster than you want to.

After charging three times, the Goblin Champion will hit his head and fall to the ground. This is one of your only chances to attack and it lasts mere seconds. As soon as he gets up, the cycle starts again.

You can hit the Goblin Champion at other moments. I suggest between thumps. You will also have to deal with little minion goblins that he summons, but they're easy to kill.

How to beat the Mad Gardener

Fighting the Mad Gardener in Lost Castle 2.
Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

Remember those scissors I mentioned? The Mad Gardener is the one who runs around with them. Despite this, I actually find him the easiest boss to beat in the game.

Fighting the Mad Gardener in Lost Castle 2.
Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

The Mad Gardener has two stages - the first is very chaotic and random. You'll need to time your attacks to make sure you don't get caught in any of his whirling scissor attacks or the scissor charge. Never get as close to the scissors as I was in the screenshot above; that was a mistake and I got caught in the attack.

Instead, avoid the Mad Gardener's attack by dodging in the opposite direction of his path as he comes towards you.

After you take his HP down to zero, he'll stop, grow some poison-spitting flowers, and gain all his health back.

There are intermittent points during his attacks where he stops to rest; this happens after a barrage of poison has been spat in your direction and all over the rest of the area.

He will visibly wilt and stop moving. It's at this exact moment that you need to attack with everything you have.

You can also attack him while he's letting the flowers spit poison at you. Just go behind his back and attack him from behind. Get a few strikes in, dodge, and immediately start moving again. You should almost always be moving when facing the Gardener.

How to beat the Forest Guardian

To beat the Forest Guardian, you're going to need to be fast.

  • Fighting the Forest Guardian in Lost Castle 2.
  • Fighting the Forest Guardian in Lost Castle 2.

As well as slamming their hammer into the ground, the Forest Guadian throws poison all over the area in vast amounts.

There were two main attacks I used to take down the Forest Guardian: bombs and charge attacks. I took a few risks, throwing bombs while poison was falling and then quickly moving out of the way with a dodge.

Charge attacks are perfect to use while the Forest Guardian is using the poison attacks, you can run from the side they aren't facing for better results.

After the Forest Guardian gets down to half their HP, they will stop, change form, and start throwing even more poison. Direct your attacks towards the bulbs of poison at the base of the tree (on both sides!).

Fighting the Forest Guardian in Lost Castle 2.
Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

After you take out the poison bulbs, the Forest Guardian will summon tree roots across the area. Avoid these, they'll trap you.

The last part of the fight is more hammer-smashing and poison-throwing. Avoid, throw bombs and/or charge, and repeat until the tree dies.

How to beat The Last Guardian

Fighting the Last Guardian in Lost Castle 2.
Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

The Last Guardian wields a gigantic sword, so get your dodging button ready.

Fighting the Last Guardian in Lost Castle 2.
Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

No, literally, because he'll just charge at you with it the second the intro to the fight is done.

As well as charging, The Last Guardian will swing his sword from above, to the side, and in a whirlwind attack. You can easily dodge all of these by just staying out of the way.

There are a couple of seconds between a charge attack and a whirlwind attack where you can throw a bomb at him or attack him. If you're using any melee weapons, hit and run.

The ultimate attack of this boss is a sequence of power attacks. First, The Last Guardian will throw two waves of power across the map. Then, he'll try to draw you in - when this happens, stay on the edge and keep using your dodge move to avoid being pulled towards him.

Finally, watch out for hoards of zombies.

To beat The Last Guardian, you just need to time your attacks and make sure you hit him between that charge and whirlwind attack. Between attacks is the best way to kill him off.

How to beat the Mutated Priest

Fighting the Mutated Priest in Lost Castle 2.
Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

You will fight three types of monsters during this boss fight: zombie minions, red-robed summoners, and the guys that throw trees. You will often face two summoners and a tree-thrower at the same time.

Fighting the Mutated Priest in Lost Castle 2.
Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

Between summoning these monsters during the battle, the Mutated Priest will throw rocks and crash one of his hands into the ground. You get enough of a warning for both of these situations to roll out of the way.

Occasionally, the red explosives will appear in the area, and you can pick these up to throw at the Mutated Priest. However, you can actually do more damage by mainly focusing on his left hand (bottom right of the area). I've demonstrated this in the Youtube video above.

Keep bouncing back and forth between this spot, throwing bombs, and killing the other monsters. There's no second stage to the Mutated Priest, so you'll beat him soon enough.

How to beat "Alchemist" Eugene and "Mad Dog" Bobby

Fighting Eugene and Bobby in Lost Castle 2.
Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

"Alchemist" Eugene and "Mad Dog" Bobby are a bit of an odd pair to fight. Having two bosses to focus on might seem more difficult than it actually is.

Fighting Eugene and Bobby in Lost Castle 2.
Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

While Eugene will throw poison potions around, which land on the ground and create puddles, Bobby pretty much just charges back and forth. This makes him seem like the correct target, but you actually want to take out Eugene first.

To get Eugene out of the equation, be sure to dodge his poison, and hit him from behind. He doesn't rest at any point, but he will occasionally pull Bobby back towards him, which means that you'll get charged at soon after.

Quick warning: As Eugene gets towards the end of his HP, he'll start throwing rows of potions at you. Move quickly.

Once Eugene is dead, Bobby gets even madder and transforms.

He'll start throwing trails of rock and fire at you. He does this a few times, and then stops moving. Take this opportunity to beat him down. Like other bosses, you can also attempt to hit him at other points, but he charges around so much that it's not worth the risk of being attacked.

Bobby's fire skill seemed to inflict damage on himself when I fought him. He still had a little HP left, cast another rush of fire, and just fell over. Something to watch for in your own adventure.

How to beat the Crystal Devourer

The Crystal Devourer in Lost Castle 2,
Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

The Crystal Devourer is a lovely blue dragon who's on a mission to absolutely destroy you. My advice with this boss is to go for the tail, but be aware that he can also attack with his tail. You want quick rogue-like attacks; get in, get out.

He'll mostly try to stomp on you, charge at you from the sky, or set off circles of lightning. He's fast, though, and that's the problem with this boss.

There is also a move where he brings up shards of rock from the ground, but it's well-choreographed and easy to dodge.

I'm going to show a slightly longer video here, which includes the timing to attack his tail and what I consider to be the Crystal Devourer's ultimate attack - which is pretty long. As well as giant circles of lightning, you'll need to dodge the smaller ones, the rocks, and the Crystal Devourer's own attacks.

In between attacks, use your bombs to damage the dragon or get behind him and strike him a couple of times before charging or dodging away.

How to beat the Behemoth

Fighting the Behemoth in Lost Castle 2.
Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

The Behemoth is an intimidating fight, but there is a trick to beating it. A few, actually.

Fighting the Behemoth in Lost Castle 2.
Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

First, you need to dodge any of the rocks that fall from the sky. You'll be using your dodge button a lot, but just get out of the way. While rocks are falling, you'll see some familiar pink orbs fall occasionally. You'll know from fighting through the mountains that you can't let these grow into rock monsters; they take ages to kill and you really don't have time to deal with them here.

Fighting the Behemoth in Lost Castle 2.
Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

Instead, pick them up and throw them at the Behemoth. You'll see the rocks around the crystal at its center light up - this is the Behemoth's weak point. As well as the pink orbs, some spiky blue stones will fall that you can throw, too. These come less often, though.

When you can, get close enough to hit the Behemoth a few times to speed up the battle.

Otherwise, just keep dodging rocks and throwing things at it until it slouches over to rest. This is when you can apply the most damage.

Unfortunately, when the Behemoth gets back up, you can expect some powerful attacks. You'll be thrown to the other side of the area, have a few more rocks thrown at you, and then have to take a bit of a battering from the sheer number of rocks that get dropped on you. It's nearly impossible to dodge the final part of this onslaught because the rocks fall three times.

Just get back up and keep attacking. The pattern pretty much repeats, with some variation on the rocks falling. Be sure to get into any gaps you see or dodge if you can.

How to beat the Thunder Sprite

Fighting the Thunder Sprite in Lost Castle 2.
Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

In my opinion, the Thunder Sprite is the hardest boss to beat. There are very few opportunities to attack her because she has a shield and constantly casts lightning and thunder spells.

  • Fighting the Thunder Sprite in Lost Castle 2.

You need to avoid every glowing blue circle, every lightning strike, and every red target circle.

Fighting the Thunder Sprite in Lost Castle 2.
Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

You will see diamond-shaped crystals occasionally. The Thunder Sprite summons these, despite them being one of the only ways to hurt her. Grab them and throw them at her whenever you get a chance to destroy her shield.

Once her shield is down (which takes two/three diamond crystals), the battle gets a lot more chaotic. If you come across any Ethereal Treasures that can revive you when you die - such as the Rebirth Amulet - make sure you buy it because you will die in this fight.

Continuing throwing the diamond crystals at her whenever you get a chance - she will occasionally raise them up out of your reach.

Another thing to watch out for is her swooping charge attack. If you don't dodge it and she knocks you over, it's more than likely that you'll also get hit with lightning.

The second stage of this fight introduces more powerful attacks. Keep throwing those crystals at her and using charge attacks to stay out of her way.

The Thunder Sprite has an ultimate attack that covers almost the entire area in lightning. Avoid the circles, wait for her to fall to rest, and attack! She gets her shield back after this rest period.

The third stage introduces three rows of lightning that travel across the area. Weave between them (they can't be dodged through, as you can see from my mistake in the video), and then keep attacking and throwing crystals until you defeat her. I can't give you any more advice than that. Good luck.

How to beat the Wandering Knight

The Wandering Knight in Lost Castle 2.
Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

I was stuck on the Wandering Knight for AGES. I finally defeated him with a bow, but I think any ranged weapon is a good idea when you're facing him.

The Wandering Knight has two stages: Horseback and armored. When the Knight is on horseback, you can expect a lot of charging attacks and rushes of rocks that travel towards you. Dodge WIDE, or you're going to get hit. I'd have your bombs equipped for this fight, you're going to need them to do more ranged damage.

If you aren't using a bow, use a weapon that allows you to charge. When using a bow, you should attack from behind and be prepared to move. When using a charge skill, you can escape faster than you can with a bow, but it's still easy to dodge the Knight's attacks if you stay above or below him when you're not actively attacking.

When you've finally de-horsed the Knight, you get to spend some time running around to dodge his whirlwind attacks. He wields a gigantic two-handed sword, which has more of a reach than you may think. Again, keep using bombs and time your attacks for his rest period - it's short, though. Really, really short.

Keep your distance, keep rolling or charging out of the way, and use your bombs to get the most effective damage.

How to beat Steward the Demon Sealer

Steward the Demon Sealer in Lost Castle 2.
Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

The Demon Sealer isn't the issue, it's the demon that is summoned afterward, but Steward is still annoying to beat.

Mostly, the issue is his ultimate attack, which can't be dodged. You want to go into this fight with max health and as much Alchemy Elixir as possible.

Where possible, stay behind Steward's back as much as you can. His attacks are fast, and getting caught in any of them is a bad idea.

The best point to attack him is when he stops to rest. There is a sequence to look out for where he attacks, rests, flies upwards, rests, and then moves into his ultimate. The second resting period here is the longest, and I highly recommend taking advantage.

Once you've finally taken Steward out, the real final boss appears.

How to beat the final boss in Lost Castle 2

The final boss in Lost Castle 2.
Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

A word of warning: Do not try to attack the final boss' arms. It's not worth it.

For this boss, you'll want to focus on attacking his other appendages and, when the time comes, his head. Like Steward, there's a lot of dodging and running around involved. This guy has lightning, lasers, and a bunch of other damaging attacks.

There are two main points in the fight you need to wait for so that you can attack. One is much safer, but less frequent because the demon needs to lose health first for it to happen.

As such, here's the first one. You can attack the head for the first time right after this, but the next few attacks to the head are much more difficult to get to.

You'll have to make it through this second sequence, which is significantly more troublesome.

The second he raises his head again, get out of the way.

Here are the best damage-dodging techniques for this boss:

  • When he slams down a hand, run to the front of the area.
  • When the electric appendages are moving in the air, keep moving and dodging until they land, then attack them.
  • When a red line appears across the ground, dodge towards the boss or in the gap that doesn't have a red line.
  • If he uses one laser, he'll use a second immediately after. Dodge either left or right.
  • If you see multiple lasers approaching, get between the lines to avoid them.
  • When blue or dark circles appear, move away from them.

What to do when you beat the final boss in Lost Castle 2

Finding Nia in Lost Castle 2.
Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

Once you've beaten the final boss, you can simply continue to play the game. The last achievement in the game's storyline is to save Nia and defeat Steward the Demon Sealer. The final boss is a demon that pops up after you defeat Steward.

There are other achievements that you can work on if you're a completionist. There are achievements for beating the game using each weapon type, so that's something you can aim towards. There are also over 100 Ethereal Treasures and almost 200 Weapons in the game, so you could try to find all of those, too, but you won't get any achievements for reaching those numbers.

My advice is to try out co-op mode or just continue enjoying the game solo. There are plenty of Camp Upgrades to work on, too!
