To get Dream Dust in Probably Stolen, you need to:
- Obtain Dream Cap Mushrooms.
- Blend them into Dream Cap Mush using the Blender.
- Add Alcohol and remove Protein residue.
- Turn the Dream Cap Mush into Dream Cap Extract.
- Filter out the impurities and remove all Wet Ingredients (Alcohol and Water).

When you start Probably Stolen as a Chemist, one of the first products you’ll have to cook up for the Cartel is Dream Dust. You can find a quick guide and recipe in the Chemistry Manual, but that guide is missing some important steps that you need to know and follow to get high-purity Dream Dust in Probably Stolen. That’s why we’ve put together this guide that not only shows the main recipe but also shares some secrets to making the best Dream Dust for the Cartel. So, let’s just get right into it.
How to Make Pure Dream Dust in Probably Stolen
When you open the Chemistry Manual, flip to Page 2, and you’ll see a brief guide on how to make Dream Dust. It shows the required materials, lists the machines you’ll have to use, and highlights all the steps. However, the instructions inside the Chemistry Manual could be a lot clearer. If you’re having a hard time following those, here they are, simplified and made easier to understand.
Step 1 - Get Dream Cap
On the very first day as a Chemist, a Cartel member will show up as the first customer to hand over some supplies, including Dream Cap. Make sure you accept them to get your first batch of Dream Dust raw materials.
Afterwards, Dream Cap mushrooms will keep showing up, and it is worth purchasing them every time.
Step 2 - Get Dream Cap Mush
After obtaining Dream Cap, the very first thing you have to do is turn those into Dream Cap Mush. To do that, open your Blender and add a plastic water bottle to use as a Container. Then, add the Dream Cap mushrooms to the Input part and hit Start.
The Dream Cap mushrooms will disappear, and Dream Cap Mush will be added to the bottle. Remove the bottle from the Blender and place it on the table/inventory.
Important: Use the Composition Spectrometer to examine the Dream Cap Mush. Note the quantity and percentage of Dream Cap Mush in the bottle. This is required for calculations later on to get Pure Dream Dust.
Step 3 - Add Alcohol to the Dream Cap Mush
Open your Chemical Supplies, and you’ll get some Alcohol Bottles (bottles with purple liquid). Place them in your inventory or on the front table. Add 3x to 6x Alcohol into the Dream Cap Mush. So, for example, if your container has 42.90ml of Dream Cap Mush, you can add up to 257.40ml (42.90 x 6) of Alcohol to it. Do not go over 6x and do not stay below 3x.
One Mini Alcohol Bottle has 250ml of alcohol in it. You can dump it all in at once, but it is highly recommended that you use droppers or graduated cylinders.
Open your Composition Spectrometer and then start adding Alcohol to the container that has the Dream Cap Mush. As you add Alcohol, it will show up in the Composition Spectrometer right under the Dream Cap Mush. Keep adding until you reach the desired composition (3x to 6x of the Dream Cap Mush quantity).
Step 4 - Get Rid of the Protein
Once you have your desired Alcohol quantity in the Dream Cap Mush container, you need to remove an extra component from the container (Protein). For that, you need to add an Acidic Solution to the container.
The Protein quantity is usually quite low, so you should use a dropper to add small quantities of Acidic Solution until the Protein completely disappears from the list (or becomes negligible). Once you add Acidic Solution, wait for the chemical reaction to fizzle out before adding any more.
Step 5 - Fire Up the Heating Plate
With the Alcohol added and the Protein all but gone, it’s time to cook up some Dream Cap Extracts. Keep your Composition Spectrometer open and then also open your Heating Plate. Add the Dream Cap Mush container to the Heating Plate and keep the temperature between 40 and 60 degrees Celsius (switch to Low to increase and turn off to decrease).
Keep an eye on the Composition Spectrometer. Once the Dream Cap Mush turns into Dream Cap Extract, remove the container from the Heating Plate.
Note: If the temperature stays above 60 for too long, the Dream Cap Mush can get burnt.
Step 6 - Remove the Impurities
You can get Kotton Fabric as a starter item, and it shows up regularly later on as well. Use that on the container to remove the impurities. Add the Kotton Fabric to a Water Pitcher and then pour your Dream Cap Extract container into that Water Pitcher. This should remove some of the impurities, like residual debris.
Refilter the ingredients using a finer filter (Water Filter) to purify the Dream Cap Extract. After removing the impurities, move the solution back to the original container.
Step 7 - Start the Evaporator
Open the Evaporator, place the Dream Cap Extract container in it, and close it. Play through the rest of the day, and go to sleep at the end. When you wake up the next day, open the Composition Spectrometer again and check your Dream Cap Extract container. You’ll see that all the Alcohol is gone. You can now remove the container from the Evaporator.
Note: The Alcohol doesn’t always get removed in one night. If that happens to you, leave it in for another night.
Step 8 - Cook Dream Dust
Open the Chem Finisher and place the Dream Cap Extract container in. Then, click on the Configure button in the Control Panel and select Vial of “Dream Dust.” Click on Output repeatedly until the container is completely empty.
Pro Tip: Add Chemical Equipment Modules in the Chem Module section of the Chem Finisher to further increase your Dream Dust’s grade.
The vials in the Output section are Dream Dust.
Tips for Making High-Grade Dream Dust in Probably Stolen
There are seven different Grades of Dream Dust (and all other Chemical products) that you can achieve in Probably Stolen. The highest possible grade is Pure Grade (99%+ purity), and it will increase the value of the product by +135%. On the other end, you have the Starch Grade, which decreases the value of the product by 95%.
Here are a few tips to follow to avoid Starch Grade Dream Dust and get as close to Pure Grade as possible:
- Remove as much Protein as possible. One of the first impurities that you need to remove is Protein. The lower the amount of Protein left behind, the better your chances of getting high-grade Dream Dust output.
- Upgrade your equipment. Better equipment means better alchemy overall. From the Blender to the Chem Finisher, you can upgrade all the machines. Upgraded machines reduce the amount of impurities that trickle down to the final Dream Dust vials.
- Avoid any extra chemicals. Keep Acidic Solution to a minimum. Avoid adding too many chlorine tablets. Do not mix up your filtering containers, or different residue will wash down into the Dream Cap Extract.
