My initial impressions on this one are actually really positive. This game looks like some really bloody good fun, and considering the developer is solo, that's quite the feat indeed. The art direction looks gnarly too, with that weird... horse man beast coming out from the shadows giving me a bit more of a shock than I'd normally like to admit.

What is We Harvest Shadows?

We Harvest Shadows is a survival horror farming sim, which is... quite the combination indeed.

Inspired by "slow-burn P.T.-style psychological horror games and Edith Finch-style personal first-person titles", this title really seems to want to put Animal Crossing in its place by giving you a lever action rifle and a lamb to sacrifice.

We even get a few details about the game from the Steam page, like how it's set in the Appalachian mountains, notorious for being not super haunted at all, and how you'll be able to upgrade and maintain your farmstead, buy new tools and vehicles, and even buy player upgrades. This is a narrative and building focused title, though, so survival elements are lighter than you'd find in most survival games. You even get a lovely little daily to-do list, which notably does not include 'return to civilization', so that's a shame for someone with as weak a constitution as me.

You'll be playing as 'Garrett', who has decided to never see another person again, because he thinks the world is 'better without him'. Sounds like a really cheery little jaunt, no?
