Should you turn in Sebastian in Hogwarts Legacy?

THe real test of your friendship.

Hogwarts Legacy takes you on a journey in the magical world of Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts. The game has an expansive storyline with diverse characters you can interact with. Sebastian Sallow, a fellow student from House Slytherin, becomes your companion during the story's main and side quests. As Sebastian's quests near the conclusion, you are in a predicament of whether to report him after he killed his uncle using a Dark Magic curse.

Should I turn in Sebastian in Hogwarts Legacy?

During In the Shadow of Fate quest, you meet Sebastian and his friend Ominis Gaunt in the Undercroft. You have a conversation with Ominis to decide whether to turn in Sebastian for his crime or not. It's entirely up to you to make the decision, however, the consequences vary. If you choose to turn your friend in, he is expelled from Hogwarts, and you will not be able to see him again. On the other hand, choosing not to report Sebastian will save him from expulsion and trial.

You should be very careful about your decision, especially if you haven't yet learned the Unforgivable Curses, i.e., Crucio, Imperio, and Avada Kedavra. These curses can be acquired by making the right dialogue choices during the Sebastian quests. But if you chose not to learn these special spells, you can unlock them anytime later if you don't turn Sebastian in.

If you turn Sebastian in and haven't learned the three Unforgivable Curses, then you have lost any and all chance of ever learning them in your current playthrough.

How to learn Unforgivable Curses from Sebastian

To obtain non-acquired curse spells, head to the Undercroft and ask Sebastian to teach them to you, of course if you haven't turned him in. The Undercroft entrance (first image) is located in the Astronomy Wing of Hogwarts Castle. To reach this secret hall, fast travel to the Defense Against the Dark Arts Classroom floor flame, head down the stairs, and you'll find the Undercroft door at the end of the corridor to your right.
