How to Get the Carrot in How to Fish

Carrot for the Pufferfish Boss!

To get the Carrot in How to Fish, you need to give any endangered fish to the Tourist NPC on Desert Island. You can catch endangered fish on Desert Island using the pink Standard Lure. If you’ve made it to the Desert Island (Island 3) and now want to head to the Rocks Island (Island 4), you need to summon and defeat the Pufferfish Boss. This will allow you to complete the Tourist’s quest and get the coordinates for Rocks Island (Island 4). But to summon the Pufferfish Boss, you first need to get the Carrot Lure. So, here’s a detailed guide on how to get the Carrot in How to Fish.

How to Get the Carrot Lure in How to Fish

To get the Carrot Lure in How to Fish, you need to talk to the Tourist NPC on Desert Island (Island 4). You’ll find him sitting at the base of one of the palm trees. When you talk to him, he’ll ask you to bring him an ‘endangered fish.’ Any fish you can catch on Desert Island has a chance of being endangered (see the label in the inventory).

Note: The Seahorse (caught with the Standard Lure) is confirmed to work for this quest.

Every endangered fish you give to the Tourist NPC will get you one Carrot. You can then use the Carrot to spawn the Pufferfish Boss. Read on to learn more about that.

How to Spawn & Defeat the Pufferfish Boss in How to Fish

Once you get the Carrot from the Tourist NPC, equip it as your main lure and cast your line. Every time you use the Carrot Lure, there’s a 100% chance that the Pufferfish Boss will spawn.

When the Pufferfish Boss spawns, here are a few tips and tricks that you can follow to defeat it:

  • Use a ranged weapon. The SMG is the best option, but any other ranged weapon will also work.
  • Keep your distance from the Pufferfish. Try to lure the boss towards the palm trees to hinder the Pufferfish’s movements and keep dealing damage.
  • Avoid the purple poison at all costs and defeat the Pufferfish before the white bar below the Pufferfish’s HP bar runs out.

Once you defeat the Pufferfish Boss, it’ll drop different items/mateirals. Find the Pufferfish Fin and give it to the Tourist NPC to get coordinates for the Rocks Island (Island 4).
