How to make all Monsters retreat in Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin?

Knowing is half the battle!

One of the main premises of Monster Hunter Stories 2 is to acquire eggs from Monster Dens so that you can hatch them a make a bond. With this bond, they fight for you against other monsters as loyal companions.

There are monster dens on the map, you can see when roaming the land, and you may even encounter the golden rare dens. Sometimes, you want a particular monster to add to your crew instead of the random chance it's in the next egg you find.

MHS2 has mechanics in place where you can force a monster to retreat. Though this depends on many variables and is not guaranteed to work. This will create a monster den of that monster that you can enter and steal an egg from. Raising the chances significantly of you obtaining an egg of that species.

Though if you use these methods with a skill called Nesting, either on your Talisman or Armor, it will increase the retreat likelihood even more.

Here are are all of the ways to increase the chances of making all hatchable monsters retreat. To find a specific monster, Ctrl + F and type in the monster's name.

This guide is a work in progress.

About the Author

Hey, my name is Mark, and I'm a video game enthusiast! My earliest memory was playing Worms on the Amiga against my Godmother, yes the Amiga, massive box type thing, needed eighty-five thousand floppy disks to play one game, maybe a slight exaggeration. Ah, those were the days! I love RPG’s, and The Legend of Zelda series. Dogs are pretty awesome.

  1. I notice normal Barioth isn’t on here, the way to get it’s retreat up is Break the Spikes with a fire attack

    1. It’s still a work in progress, so I haven’t got everything yet sadly. But I did find it odd, I saw Sand Barioth first. Thanks for that I’ll add that to the list!
