New Palworld teaser showcases new Pals and new areas

New Pals, new areas, and PVP, oh my!

It's no secret that Palworld fans are anxiously waiting for the big update coming to the game this summer, which promises dozens of new Pals, new areas to explore, and the new Pal Arena game mode. To up the hype even further, Pocketpair released yet another teaser today at the ID Xbox Showcase and based on that, there is plenty to look forward to.

One of the most highly-anticipated aspects of Palworld's upcoming summer patch is, of course, the addition of dozens of new Pals. It's since been confirmed that at least 50 new Pals will be added in one update. There is the potential for more later in the year, but right now that's speculative at best.

The teaser purposefully showcases four new Pals, including a frog that looks to be a water-type, a crane bird Pal flexing some ground-type abilities, a green lizard sporting a mushroom hat that looks like a miniature version of Relaxasaurus, and lastly, a samurai-esque Pal that could be a cousin of Bushi. Its element type isn't shown, however.

For those who follow current Palworld events on the game's official Discord, players have since made the effort to datamine unreleased Pals buried in the game's code. Obscured by cryptic names, they remain a mystery, but some of them look to be among the ones set to debut in this upcoming patch.

New Palworld areas show a swampland and an Eastern village

Along with new Pals, we also got a glimpse of some colorful new areas that players will be able to explore and hopefully set up bases in.

The area where the frog and mushroom lizard Pals are shown definitely looks like a swampland aesthetic, with mushrooms galore. By contrast, there's a pristine-looking Eastern-style village full of cherry blossom trees he Palworld adventurer walks through alongside Cattiva.

This could certainly mean many things, as we may get access to more vendors here, and what looks like a new Boss Tower. It would certainly be nice to see hubs liven up with more NPCs and perhaps some new types of shops. An educated guess would be that these biomes will all make up an entirely new island in Palpagos.

What is the Palworld summer patch release date?

For quite a while, the confirmed release of Palworld's biggest patch to date has been set for "Summer 2024", and that's reiterated at the end of this latest teaser as well. However, thanks to an official follow-up tweet from Xbox Game Pass, a more precise launch window has been revealed.

We'll be getting the patch update sometime in June, and an exact date will likely follow sometime in May. Whether the Pal Arena PVP mode will launch in tandem remains to be seen, but we may very well get both for the summer season.

Palworld is currently available everywhere on PC (via Steam and GamePass) and Xbox Series X|S platforms. Check out the full teaser for the content patch below, courtesy of Pocketpair on YouTube.
