Is there a move tutor in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

You'll have to learn on your own this time.

Pokémon Scarlet and Violet feature a wide roster of Pokémon, ranging from brand new to returning old Pokémon. Each Pokémon has a specific set of moves they can learn, but previous titles featured move tutors that could teach specific moves to your Pokémon. This may leave you wondering if there are move tutors in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

Does Pokémon Scarlet & Violet have a move tutor?

The answer is no—Pokémon Scarlet and Violet do not have move tutors. Previous Pokémon titles featured move tutors that could teach your Pokémon additional moves, but without move tutors, you will have to look for other ways to learn these. Fortunately, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet does let you learn moves outside of a Pokémon's normal move set.

How to learn more moves in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

While each Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet learns certain moves by leveling up, there are other ways to teach your Pokémon more moves. This is primarily through TMs and egg moves. TMs can be crafted at outdoor Pokémon Centers, while egg moves are passed down through breeding a male and female Pokémon. Without move tutors, this is the main way to learn moves outside of leveling up.

In addition to this, your Pokémon can remember moves that they have already forgotten. This is done through the Move Remember feature, which will let you teach previous moves to your Pokémon. Using all of these will expand the move set your Pokémon have.
