Pokémon games have a history of rewarding players on their birthday with birthday Pokémon, encouraging words from NPCs, and even an exclusive Celebrate move. This trend began in Generation IV and has continued for several years. In Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, this tradition returns, albeit subtly. Here's what happens when you register your birthday in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.
What do you get for registering your Birthday in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet
At any Pokémon Center, you can register your birthday by speaking to the nurse. On your birthday, if you travel to the Pokémon Center, a special surprise will be waiting for you. Both confetti and colorful cut-outs fall from the sky, and the nurse wishes you a happy birthday. After your business at the Pokémon Center is complete, you can step back and view the overhead screen, which contains balloons, a birthday cake, and several Drifloon Pokémon.
Unlike past titles like My Pokémon Ranch and Pokémon Black & White, you do not receive any items on your birthday. These effects are purely cosmetic and do not affect gameplay whatsoever. However, if you live in Japan, you can receive a free birthday Pokémon by visiting a real-world Pokémon Center retail store. These birthday-exclusive Pokémon change each year, and all know the move Celebrate. This move causes your Pokémon to emerge from a gift box, wishing you well on your special day. Unfortunately, this move can only be acquired through real-world events, which is a shame.
