Portal: Companion Collection is due to release this year, but no specific date has been provided. The collection will include the single-player campaign for both titles and Portal 2's Co-Op mode available in local split-screen or online modes. It is unknown if the Perpetual Testing Initiative DLC for Portal 2 will be included—this was previously only available on the PC version.
The series is known for its portal gun, allowing the player to create portals on walls and other surfaces to travel and solve puzzles. Players also send objects like cubes and turrets through the portals as they solve puzzles under the watchful eye of the colorful robot Glados. Portal 2 pushed this concept further by adding a deeper story and a standalone co-op story with its own unique puzzles and mechanics.
Valve has not released a Portal game on a Nintendo console before. The original Portal was released in 2007, with Portal 2 hitting Steam in 2011.
Nintendo and Valve made the announcement at the February 9th Nintendo Direct event. These showcases show off new game announcements, updates on existing titles, and other surprises.
