Wondering what the best build and team are for Moonless Transcendent (Boundless Ichigo) in UTDZ? The long-anticipated Update 4 has finally been released for Universal Tower Defense Z, bringing over 20 new units to the game. One of the strongest additions is Moonless Transcendent. In this Moonless Transcendent build guide, you’ll learn the best trait, relic set, and team comp for Boundless Ichigo.
Universal Tower Defense Z Moonless Transcendent Best Build
UTDZ Moonless Transcendent is a burst-focused damage dealer built around pressure, critical hits, follow-up attacks, and one exceptionally powerful transformation. He can deal respectable sustained damage, but his real value lies in weakening priority targets for the entire team before releasing Final Moon Fang at the decisive moment.
Boundless Ichigo is at his best in difficult raids, boss stages, and late-game modes where a single elite enemy must be removed quickly. However, his transformation eventually resets him to his base form with no upgrades, so careless activation can leave your team without its main carry.
Best Trait for Moonless Transcendent
As is almost always the case in UTDZ, Ruler is the clear first choice because it grants +200% damage, -20% ability cooldown, and +30% range. Its one-placement restriction barely matters when Moonless is already being used as a single, heavily invested carry.
Use Duelist when building specifically for bosses. Its +35% boss damage, +25% Critical Rate, and +20% range complement Moonless’ burst pattern particularly well. Eternal is better for long stages where its wave-based bonuses have time to reach their caps, although it is less reliable in short raids or stages that end before it fully scales.

Best Relics
The complete Shadow Reaper set is his strongest general configuration. Its base bonuses include damage, range, Critical Rate, and Critical Damage, while Moonless activates several relevant tag bonuses. Hollow adds substantial Critical Rate and Critical Damage, Peroxide provides armor penetration and cooldown reduction, and Reaper supplies +30% Elemental Damage and another -12.5% cooldown.
The regular Reaper Necklace or a strong offensive headband can work while you farm the Shadow Reaper accessory, but the full Shadow Reaper setup better supports both his elemental damage and cooldown-dependent gameplay.
Best Main and Sub Stat
When it comes to stat points, they should go all on pure damage. In addition, run Damage as the main stat on both clothing pieces and Elemental Damage on the necklace. Moonless already receives large Critical Rate bonuses from Final Moon Fang and his equipment, so pouring the primary stat allocation into Damage gives his nuke, counters, and follow-up attacks the highest ceiling. SPA, Critical Damage, and Critical Rate remain valuable substats because they improve his performance before and between active-ability windows.
Best Team for Moonless Transcendent
A strong Moonless Transcendent team should give him enough time and resources to reach his final upgrades while including another damage dealer who can capitalize on Pressure’s 25% team-wide damage amplification. A reliable six-slot setup is:
- Slot 1: Gremmy or Zoro (Secondary carry)
- Slot 2: Moonless Transcendent
- Slot 3: Prodigy Mage (Support)
- Slot 4: Another strong DPS or utility unit
- Slots 5–6: Farm units
Gremmy or Zoro works well as the secondary carry because Moonless should not be your only source of damage. His Final Moon Fang form is extremely powerful, but it eventually removes his upgrades and temporarily leaves him unable to perform at full strength. A second carry keeps the run stable before Moonless is maxed and after his transformation expires.
Prodigy Mage fills the support slot by improving the team’s offensive output and helping Moonless reach his burst windows more effectively. The fourth slot should cover whatever the stage demands, such as additional boss damage, crowd control, air coverage, shield breaking, or another unit with strong sustained DPS.
The main goal is to avoid overcommitting every resource to Moonless too early. Establish your farms and secondary DPS first, then complete his upgrades before the boss or final-wave window, where Final Moon Fang will have the greatest impact.

How to Play Moonless Transcendent: Tips & Tricks
Place Moonless Transcendent where enemies remain within his range for as long as possible, preferably across a bend or along a long shared lane. Overwhelming Strength applies Pressure for 10 seconds and Confusion for two seconds. Pressured enemies take 25% more damage from all sources, receive an additional 50% damage when Moonless attacks them, and suffer another 50% hit after reaching the inner half of his range.
This makes positioning crucial: placing him too close to the entrance wastes the inner-range trigger and can shorten the time enemies spend under Pressure. Place him farther along the route and support him with another strong DPS unit capable of exploiting the team-wide vulnerability.
Reiatsu Release produces a lingering follow-up that deals 60% damage per second for three seconds. Each enemy killed by its initial hit extends the follow-up by one second, up to ten seconds, so target dense groups rather than isolated enemies whenever possible. After it ends, Moonless gains stacking Critical Damage, giving him additional long-term scaling.
Save Final Moon Fang for bosses, final waves, or emergencies. The form grants +250% damage, +50% Critical Rate, and +250% Critical Damage before releasing a 650% attack. Each subsequent attack removes 10% of its accumulated form buffs; once they reach zero, Moonless becomes unsellable, enters Human Form for 30 seconds, and then returns without upgrades. Activating it too early forces you to repurchase his entire upgrade chain and may ruin your economy.
So there you have it - the best Moonless Transcendent / Boundless Ichigo build in the current Universal Tower Defense Z Update 4 meta. As it stands, Moonless Transcendent is probably one of the strongest new units in UTDZ and one you will definitely want to get and evolve as soon as possible.
