Complete Ravager & Vesper Ghost Guide – Demonology

Take care when handling these Ghosts!

The Ravager is a Ghost that can hurl items around in a violent tornado. To identify it, you will have to collect the Inscription, Spirit Box and EMF level 5 evidence. The best way to counter it is to hide inside a closet or kite it. The Vesper is a Ghost that will be able to hear you if you so much as move a muscle, so the best way to counter it is to stand perfectly still. The evidence needed to complete its investigation are Inscription, Prints and Wither.

The Vesper and the Ravager ghosts are enemies in Demonology, and they can be very tough to deal with, especially for newer players. The Vesper is particularly tricky, since it relies only on auditory rather than visual stimuli when chasing you, and can even track you through walls! Since the game does little to explain the best methods for dealing with them, we have created this complete guide to help anyone who needs it. Keep reading to find out more!

Complete Demonology Ravager Guide - Evidence, How to Identify & Counter

The Ravager is a spirit in Demonology that will manifest itself by grabbing and throwing various items from the environment. When a Hunt is initiated, there is a 1/3 chance that it will make a huge tornado of said items, so that should be a dead giveaway that you are facing him and not some other ghost. Thankfully, this tornado does not actually damage the player and is only there for visual and environmental effect. Regardless of what he does, his activities will always leave the largest EMF level of 5, so you can also identify him by that.

Aside from the aforementioned high EMF activity, you can also identify the Ravager by his other two pieces of evidence, which are the Inscription (formerly known as Ghost Writing) and the Spirit Box.

To obtain these clues, you will first have to obtain the Spirit Book and the Spirit Box equipment, either by purchasing them from the store that can be found in the game's lobby or by picking them up from the pinboard once you have actually initiated a job.

Obtaining the Inscription clue will be slightly easier, since all you have to do is identify the ghost's favorite room. This room will be the coldest on the map; you can check its temperature with the thermometer. Once you have done that, simply your spirit book inside of it, and the Ravager will eventually write something down in it, allowing you to pick up this piece of evidence.

Getting the Spirit Box clue will be slightly trickier, since you will have to be in a room where the ghost is present, with the lights inside turned off. Once these prerequisites have been met, you can ask the ghost a question, and if it replies, you will have your clue. If it does not reply, do not be discouraged; keep asking it questions, and it will eventually. The main thing to look out for here is that if a Hunt gets initiated, you will be very close to the ghost, and thus extremely vulnerable, so be careful while you are getting this evidence.

Thankfully, the standard methods of countering ghosts in Demonology also work on the Ravager, so if a hunt gets initiated, simply look for the nearest closet and enter it, and you will be untouchable. You do not even have to shut the closet doors. Another effective strategy for dealing with it is to kite it in circles around a large object.

Pro tip: When a Ravager initiates a Tornado, there is a real possibility of furniture being flung about, which can potentially block off your escape route. To that end, plan your routes accordingly and steer clear of the ghost while the Tornado is active.

Complete Demonology Vesper Ghost Guide - Evidence, How to Identify & Counter

The Vesper is a Ghost in Demonology that manifests itself via stalking you through only auditory as opposed to visual cues. Simply running away will not help you, as they can hear you and even track you through walls. If that happens, you will know that your adversary is the Vesper. You will also know you are facing it if you manage to obtain the three following clues: Inscription, Prints, and Wither.

To obtain the Prints, you must use a Blacklight, either by picking it up from the pinboard once a game has been initiated or buying it from the game lobby store. Regardless of how you have obtained it, simply flash it around objects inside the house, and once you have managed to spot a print, this bit of evidence will be yours.

We have already described how to obtain the Inscription clue; check out the Ravager paragraph. As for the Wither, you can acquire it by placing the Flower Pot inside the house. If the colorful flowers inside of it begin to blacken, shrivel, and decay, you can assume that Vesper is running about. However, only once this process is complete will you be able to obtain this piece of evidence. The time it takes for it to conclude is completely random; sometimes it will happen in mere seconds, while other times you will be forced to wait it out for a couple of minutes. With that in mind, it is a good idea to simply set the pot down and conduct other investigations so as not to waste time, since the flowers wither (or don't) passively.

The Vesper is the first ghost in Demonology that you cannot hide in a closet. Trying to do so will only give away your position, sending Vesper scrambling your way and delivering you a swift end to your would-be investigation. Instead, the best way to counter Vesper is to simply stand still whenever it is hunting you. Doing so will make it simply pass right next to you as if you do not exist. This is because it is blind and relies solely on audio cues. Aside from moving, crouching, and interacting with items will also produce sound, so you should refrain from doing that unless you want a quick death. If you fail to do so, you can always fall back on the tried and true method of kiting it in circles around a large object, like, for example, the kitchen counter on the Fenway map.

Bug: If you are already in a closet when a Hunt is initiated, and you start making noise, Vesper will not be able to reach you and will start spazzing out! However, it seems that the game devs are already aware of this issue and should fix it soon.
