Complete VV: Ultimatum Hollow Progression Guide

Become the best Hollow in VV: Ultimatum!

To progress efficiently as a Hollow in VV: Ultimatum, you will first have to pick the best Hollow Type, which is the Gorilla. Then, you will have to advance it preferably to at least Adjunchas or Vasto Lorde by completing in-game quests and gaining XP. As you do this you will also collect Hollow Traits, with the best being Iron Skin. Then, you will evolve to an Arrancar, and meditate to be able to Resurrect.

Playing as a Hollow in VV: Ultimatum can be quite tricky, as you initially start off weaker than other classes. There are also a few nuances you have to be aware of. This is, however, nothing to be afraid of as you scale hard towards the endgame, unlocking your true potential in the process. However, since the game itself does not explain this clearly, we have created this complete guide to help anyone who needs it, so keep reading to find out more!

Which Hollow Type to Pick in VV: Ultimatum?

When starting off as a Hollow in VV: Ultimatum, you will be given a choice of four different Hollow types once you have completed the tutorial. They are the Gorilla, Turtle, Centipede, and Lizard. While all of them are perfectly usable during regular gameplay, you will be forced to fight your chosen Hollow type during your resurrection fight. With that in mind, you should avoid picking the Turtle and the Centipede hollows, as the former has delayed attacks that are difficult to parry, and the latter has oppressive speed.

With that said, you are left with a choice between the Gorilla and the Lizard. Our recommendation is that you pick Gorilla, as it offers a balanced playstyle that all players can enjoy. The Lizard is a good choice if you prefer mobility. At the end of the day, it isn't too important which one you will pick, as you will not be playing with them for a long period of time.

How to get Hollow Traits in VV: Ultimatum?

To get Hollow Traits in VV: Ultimatum, all you have to do is defeat other Hollows in battle. Once you have done that, consume the remains of said Hollow for a chance of getting the traits in question.

There is a wide variety of Hollow Traits, and we have made a separate guide that thoroughly explains which one is the best. In short, the best ones you should be looking out for are: Deadly Claws, Iron Skin, and Wings. It is very important that you only pick the traits that you want and are good for your build, as they are permanent and will remain with your character even after you have resurrected. Thankfully, the game gives you the option to reject unwanted traits by pressing "No" when prompted.

Keep in mind that as you play the game and evolve, you will be able to have a maximum of 2,3 or 4 Hollow Traits equipped, so do not make the mistake of remaining stuck with only 2 Hollow Traits!

Keep in mind that the effectiveness of these traits can be exponentially increased when combined with the buffs that Hollow clans offer. They are acquired through clan rerolls, based on a gacha system.

Important information: Hollow Traits cannot be gained as an Arrancar, so make sure to get the desired ones before you remove your mask!

How and When to Evolve in VV: Ultimatum?

To evolve in VV: Ultimatum, simply complete Quests and earn XP. The best way to do this is to follow the red storyline quests. After doing this enough times, eventually you will turn into a Menos and be able to evolve by pressing "L", which will rip off your mask and give you the chance to customize your newly formed Arrancar (Menocar). However, we suggest that you do not do this while only having Menos, as better Hollow forms will still be available, which will allow you to hold more Hollow traits at the same time, as opposed to only two.

To advance to better hollow forms, destroy a couple of objects and kill a few Hollows, and once you have done that, you will be able to advance into an Adjuchas. If you choose to evolve during this time, you will become an Arrancar, and you will be able to possess three traits at the same time. However, we suggest progressing even further into a Vasto Lorde. To do this, keep progressing through the main red questline. This will ensure that you are able to own the maximum 4 traits and be at your best once you resurrect.

As soon as you become an Arrancar, you will be given the chance to select your own weapon. We suggest getting the Spear as its long range will help you during most encounters.

How to Resurrect?

To resurrect in VV: Ultimatum, firstly, you will have to become an Arrancar. For this process, it does not matter if you did it from Menos, Adjunchas, or Vasto Lorde. You will have to meditate with your active weapon equipped by pressing "M" by default. This will progress your resurrection process. Keep in mind that meditations are most effective when you hear the inner world whispering to you. This will manifest as yellow text above your skill hotbar. At a certain point in the game, you will get asked a question, with all of the possible answers being correct. After this point, your meditations will eventually take you to the Inner World, where you will be able to do the resurrection fight.

Be aware that if you keep falling asleep during your meditations, this means that they are not effective and that you have to gain more XP. As for the resurrection fight itself, you will be forced to fight your original hollow type. Do not worry if you do not manage to complete it on your first try, as you can do it as many times as needed by simply meditating more.

Pro tip: The inner world seems to be whispering the most during missions, invasions, and PvP, so take advantage of this information.
