There are eight Fighting Styles in Gakuran to choose from as of July 2026, but the best ones to aim for are definitely Boxing and Wrestling. Boxing makes you a beast with uninterruptible heavy attacks, 20% block chip damage, and perfect block. Wrestling gives you a heavy attack that slams opponents into the ground for 1.5x damage, +15% guardbreak and block chip damage, and a 55% chance to crash into a grapple.
If you want to live out your dream of being the ultimate school baddie, Gakuran is the perfect game for you. While there are eight Fighting Styles to choose from, you should definitely aim for the one that resonates the most with your character. This is why we created the Gakuran Fighting Style tier list: to make sure your selection makes you the ultimate fighting champ.

What Do the Tier Rankings Mean in Our Gakuran Tier List?
The rankings in our Gakuran Tier List reflect the overall peak performance of the fighting style, regardless of how hard it is to play. The tier list is made with the assumption that the style is played to its full potential and then compared to the rest, so if you're a gaming god, you have nothing to worry about!
- S Tier (2) - The Fighting Styles with the most potential to destroy your opponents, whether it is overwhelming damage or just how hard they are to fight against
- A Tier (2) - The Fighting Styles with really good damage potential, but will fall short when compared to S Tier, provided you and your opponent(s) are on equal footing
- B Tier (2) - You might find some luck using these Fighting Styles but on equal footing you will most likely be stomped by better Styles
- C Tier (2) - Only recommend if you want to RP as the personification of this style, or want to attack noobs. Otherwise, you will get punished by better players for even trying

Gakuran S Tier
| Fighting Style | Passive Style Bonuses | Why This Tier |
|---|---|---|
![]() Boxing (Epic) | - Untouchable: Heavy Attacks have iFrames and are uninterruptible - Guard Pierce III: 20% block chip damage - Perfect Reflex: Perfect blocks reduce Heavy Attack cooldown by 1 second of what it's currently at if on cooldown | This style is incredibly hard to play against - most notably due to the iFrames that you get on Heavy attack/M2. It can still be dodged or parried, but this pressure allows you to be incredibly aggressive and lead the fight on your terms. It also rewards you if you get good at blocking, thanks to the cooldown reduction that lets you spam your Heavy Attacks/M2. Recommended for Short/Mid height (4'11'' to 5'4'') |
![]() Wrestling (Legendary) | - Takedown: Heavy attack grabs opponents and slams them into the ground, dealing 1.5x damage - Heavy Hitter III: +15% guardbreak damage (Light/Heavy attacks) - Guard Pierce II: 15% block chip damage - Resilience V: 55% chance to clash into a grapple | Wrestling definitely sports a higher skill cap and requires more practice than boxing, but it is no less of a monster if you know what you're doing. You can't be interrupted when you initiate your grab on your Heavy, which means you can punish opponents that dash into you and misplay. Recommended for Tall height (5'5'' and onward) |
Gakuran A Tier
| Fighting Style | Passive Style Bonuses | Why This Tier |
|---|---|---|
![]() Basic (Common) | - Counterstrike: +5% damage on your next attack after perfectly blocking an attack - Swift Recovery: +15% posture regeneration rate - Guard Pierce II: 15% block chip damage - Resilience II: 25% chance to clash into a grapple | Surprisingly decent, especially since this is the default starter Style in the game. It doesn't have the raw power of Wrestling and Boxing, but it will still reward you for good play, particularly when you get good at blocking, since you get a damage boost after doing it perfectly. Recommended for Short/Mid height (4'11'' to 5'4'') but it can work for any height |
![]() Muay Thai (Rare) | - Powerful: Ragdoll Heavy attacks - Crushing Force II: +15% posture damage - Guard Pierce V: 30% block chip damage - Resilience V: 55% chance to clash into a grapple | If you prefer to be taller but also want to be aggressive, Muay Thai is your best bet. You'll want to keep constant pressure, as even if you keep clashing or getting blocked, you do amazing chip damage. More savvy players will either keep their distance properly, or Wrestler can straight up grab you, so if you're up against the same skill level, you're probably losing. Recommended for Tall height (5'5'' and onward) |
Gakuran B Tier
| Fighting Style | Passive Style Bonuses | Why This Tier |
|---|---|---|
![]() Capoeira (Legendary) | - Powerful: Ragdoll Heavy attacks - Heavy Hitter I: +5% guardbreak damage (Light/Heavy attacks) - Guard Pierce II: 15% block chip damage - Ginga: Dash cooldown is 25% shorter | For a Legendary pull, it is quite underwhelming. It would be amazing for any type of build -short or tall - if only it did any damage. However, if you're mad good at the game, you will dance circles around less prepared enemies (until a skilled Wrestler joins the room) Recommended for Short/Mid height (4'11'' to 5'4'') but it can work for any height |
![]() Hakari (Epic) | - Powerful: Ragdoll Heavy attacks - Momentum Rush: Landing a full M1 combo without being stunned grants a 7s window where your M2 deals 3x damage - Guard Pierce II: 15% block chip damage | Features a quite interesting playstyle that can benefit greatly from fighting groups of enemies as a group. If you land a full combo with your light attack, you get a gigantic damage boost. That being said, in a 1-on-1 against a skilled opponent, you will likely not land full light combos. Recommended for Short/Mid height (4'11'' to 5'4'') |
Gakuran C Tier
| Fighting Style | Passive Style Bonuses | Why This Tier |
|---|---|---|
![]() Karate (Rare) | - Steady Nerves: Perfect blocking an attack increases posture regen by 15% for 3 seconds - Balanced Strike: Landing an M2 refunds 25% of your posture - Guard Pierce II: 15% block chip damage - Resilience II: 25% chance to clash into a grapple | Most other playstyles offer some kind of reward for proper play or guide you towards a playstyle. This isn't the case with Karate, which doesn't really have any specific weak points but doesn't excel at anything either - just very middle of the road Recommended for Short/Mid height (4'11'' to 5'4'') |
![]() Slugger (Rare) | - Unstable: Deal and take 25% more damage - Guard Pierce V: 30% block chip damage - Resilience III: 45% chance to clash into a grapple | At worst, actively giving you a disadvantage, and at best allowing you to style over new players with the big damage boost. Nothing to write home about; very weak when compared to any good player with a different fighting style. . Recommended for Tall height (5'5'' and onward) |
Which Fighting Style Should Beginners Choose in Gakuran?
If you're new to Gakuran and unsure which fighting style to go for, honestly, just sticking to Basic will take you far enough until you get used to the mechanics. Otherwise, you might want to match whatever height you end up getting with a fairly common style. If you end up tall, shoot for Muay Thai, and if you end up short, go for Boxing; both are fairly easy to roll for (30% or 10%).
At the end of the day, being a Slice of Life/RP game, it's not an extremely competitive game, so if you're trying to live out your high school karate master dreams, you should go for it instead of looking to min-max.
