Survival has become far more dangerous in 99 Nights in the Forest with the addition of a new nighttime entity. The Cat entity is a fast feline predator that will stalk you in the jungle and can quickly eliminate anyone caught unprepared. Unlike other entities in the game, the Cat cannot be easily countered using normal tools such as flashlights. So, to help you understand this new entity and make sure you can survive the nights, here's a complete guide on how to deal with the Cat entity.
How to Survive Cat in 99 Nights in the Forest

The Cat entity is extremely aggressive and difficult to stop once it begins hunting. The best strategy is to avoid direct confrontation and focus on survival. Staying near the campfire is the safest option when the Cat is active.
Also, building defensive structures is another effective method. Basic walls and poison walls can block the Cat’s path and prevent it from lunging directly at you. Placing multiple walls around your camp creates a barrier that makes it harder for the Cat to reach you.
If you hear the Cat approaching, running away is often your best chance of survival. The entity is extremely fast, but moving quickly and keeping distance can prevent it from landing a direct attack. When the Cat prepares to jump, a red exclamation mark appears above it, and a red zone appears on the ground near your character.
This zone indicates where the Cat will land. Immediately moving away from that area can help you dodge the attack. If the Cat reaches you, it will scratch you repeatedly and deal heavy damage. If it kills you, a jumpscare animation will appear before your character is eliminated.
Cat Entity Spawn & Details

| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Entity Type | Hostile |
| Spawn Chance | 50% depending on biome |
| Spawn Condition | Appears during night (Jungle Biome) |
| Replaced By | Owl (Snow Biome), Ram (Volcanic Biome) |
The Cat is considered one of the major hostile entities in the game alongside the Owl, Ram, and Bat. When a night begins, a short cutscene will play around Day 3-4 showing the Cat awakening. After this scene ends, a message appears stating “The Cat has woken up.”
When this entity is active, the Deer normally will not spawn during the same night unless a Cultist Attack event also occurs. One of the most dangerous aspects of the Cat is that it cannot be stunned with Torchlight. It can also jump onto you even if they are standing on top of buildings, which makes elevated areas useless for defense.
