Fish is not the only thing you can reel in while exploring the Ocean and the various biomes in Abyss. There are chances that you’ll also get different materials like Moss, which are required for certain quests and have other uses as well. So, we’ve put together this complete guide that will tell you how to get Moss in Abyss.
Moss in Abyss - How to Get, Rarity, & Uses
Moss is categorized as a Fragment in the in-game Inventory. Its description says that moss is a soft, green plant that grows in damp and shaded places. If you want to collect Moss, you simply have to fish in the Spirit Roots location and hope a chest shows up during the mini-game.
Each time you successfully reel in a chest, there is a 50/50 chance that you’ll get Moss or a Rooted Geode (those are also obtainable from Spirit Roots). For some reason, Rooted Geode has a higher drop chance than Moss. So, if you want to collect Moss in Abyss, fish as much as you can in the Spirit Roots biome.

Uses of Moss in Abyss
Moss only has one use in Abyss. It is required to complete certain quests from different NPCs, like Issac and Isolde. You just have to find different amounts of Moss and bring them to the NPC to complete their quest. Apart from that, Moss has no real use in Abyss.
Tips for Farming Moss in Abyss
If you’re struggling to get Moss and only catching Geodes, here are a few tips that could help:
- Only fish in Spirit Roots. You won’t find Moss in any other biome or the Ocean.
- Use Luck Potions. Moss does not have an in-game rarity, but it’s pretty clear that it has very low drop chances. Consume a Luck Potion to increase your chances of getting chests and Moss from those chests.
- Focus on higher-rarity fish in the Spirit Roots. I’ve personally found that higher-rarity fish have a higher chance of giving you a chest, which also increases your chance of getting Moss. So, instead of wasting time farming Common and Uncommon fish, try to look for Epic and Legendary fish like Sailfish and Eyefish.
