To get the Hollow Badge in Dead Rails, you need to start a game and then complete the short tutorial to get some cash. After that:
- Find a Stain to get the Phantom Key.
- Open the Phantom Lock near the train at spawn and go through the portal.
- Board the train and go to the right side of the train.
- Exit the train and kill the zombies in the first town to get another Phantom Key.
- Pick up the code dropped by the zombies and bring it to the bank.
- Open the vault to get another Phantom Key.
- Get back on the train and open the Red Lock.
- Once the train starts moving, move towards the right side of the train again to find another Red Lock.
- At the next town, get down again and kill all the zombies.
- Inside the Prison, get another Phantom Key.
After you open the second Red Lock, start moving towards the right end of the train again until you find the Phantom Train Conductor. Talk to him to get the Hollow Dead Rails Badge.
To get the Hollow Dead Rails Badge and earn 20 Tickets, you need to complete a special questline. You can do it solo or as a party. The quest includes finding keys, fighting zombies and bosses, and solving puzzles. How to Start The Hollow Dead Rails Quest
You can start Dead Rails’ The Hollow quest by walking up to the platform and creating a party. Choose the first map. You can play Solo or create a party with your friends. Once you spawn in the game, complete the short tutorial. It is optional, but I suggest completing it to earn some cash.
After completing the tutorial, you can start the questline. Read on to learn about all the objectives that you need to complete and how to complete them:
Objective 1 - Inspect the Stain
The first objective is to inspect a Stain to spawn a Red Lock and Phantom Key 1. You can find the stain on the ground or on the wall behind the Sheriff’s Office, behind one of the houses to the right of the Sheriff’s Office, or behind the General Store. Make sure you check all these areas to find the Stain.
Interact with it, and a small cutscene will play. After that, you’ll see a Phantom Key 1 right in front of you. Pick up that key and come back towards the train at spawn. You’ll see a Red Lock floating in the air. Use the Phantom Key 1 on that Red Lock, and then walk through the portal that opens up.
Objective 2 - Board the Train
Go through the portal and board the train to continue the questline. After you enter the train, start moving to the right end. You need to keep going until you reach a Red Lock.
Important: Collect any ammo you find in the different carriages. You need to kill zombies later on, and you’ll need a lot of ammo.
Objective 3 - Find the Key #1
When you reach the Red Lock, you’ll see a town on your right. Before exiting the train, pick up the Revolver on the seat next to the door and load it up. Now, exit the train and kill all the zombies. One of the zombies you kill will drop a code (different for everyone). Pick up that code and go to the bank (the first building on the left side).
Use that code to open the vault inside the bank. You’ll find another Phantom Key inside. Bring that key back to the train to open the Red Lock.
Important: The zombies keep respawning. Once you find the code, make sure you grab the key as quickly as possible and leave.
After you open the lock, the train will start moving again. Walk through the door you just opened and keep heading towards the right end until you reach another Red Lock. Pick up more ammo because you will have to fight more zombies.
Objective 4 - Find the Key #2
The train will stop at Stillwater Prison. Equip your Revolver again, load it up, and start killing zombies. Enter the prison area and go straight. You’ll see the Phantom Key stuck in a rock. As soon as you pull the key out, Goliath (the zombie boss) will spawn, and the prison gate will close.
You can either kill the boss to open the door or simply escape the prison through a hole in the wall just past the rock where you got the Phantom Key. Escaping through the hole is a lot easier because Goliath is tanky but slow. Hold the key, exit through the hole, and walk all the way back towards the train to open the Red Lock.
After opening the lock, the train starts moving again. So, you now have to move towards the right end of the train again.
Objective 5 - Talk to the Phantom Train Conductor
You’ll have to walk all the way to the end room to talk to the Phantom Train Conductor. Talk to him, and he’ll teleport you back to the spawn area. You’ll also get the Hollow Dead Rails Badge and will be able to claim 20 Tickets from The Hollow Hub area.
How to Get Cowboy Hat of the Dead in The Hollow
To get the Cowboy Hat of the Dead, you need to first get the Hollow Dead Rails Badge. After that, you need to go to The Hollow Hub and take the lift to Floor 3. On Floor 3, find the Dead Rails area (look for a room that has a theater stage). Go into that room, and you can claim the Cowboy Hat of the Dead by interacting with a platform on the right side of a teleport portal to Dead Rails.
