How to Purchase the Mist Pickaxe
As is usual, you can purchase the Mist Pickaxe from Miner Frank's Shop at the Frostspire Expanse island, but you first have to complete a quest. No, it's not just about earning money, it has to be a challenge too. The Mist Pickaxe is one of the two Pickaxes in the Frostspire Expanse update which you can only obtain after completing a quest. The reward you get is the Mist Pickaxe Recipe.
How to Get the Mist Pickaxe Recipe in the Forge
Once you arrive at the island, go up the left path from the docks and you'll see Bjorn in front of his house. Interact with him and he'll give you a quest to talk to Moro (he can be found next to the forge in this area). When you do, Moro will give you a series of quests related to mining. You'll be familiar with them from the previous islands. Same questline, different ores.
The quest you need to watch out for requires you to:
- Mine x50 Ice Rocks
- Get x5 Neurotite Ores
- Get x5 Larimar Ores
In order to mine Ice Rocks, you will need a Pickaxe from the third island, especially if you only have an Arcane Pickaxe. We suggest mining the Ice Pebbles until you get enough money to purchase the Aqua Pickaxe which costs $375k this and has great mining power at 200 as well as an excellent Luck Boost at +52%. You should absolutely skip the Tungsten Pickaxe, the speed debuff really destroys its worth.
When you are properly equipped go down into the Spider Cave and start mining those Ice Rocks. The chance of mining Neurotite is 1 in 690, while for Larimar it is 1 in 575. Neither Ore has a specific Traits attached to them, but they are both of Epic Rarity. Make sure to add them when forging to increase the price of the item you are trying to sell. If you can, we suggest mining on Private Servers, since it can get quite clogged on the public ones.
After you've completed the quest, the next one will automatically start and you will be rewarded the Mist Pickaxe Recipe.
How to Use the Mist Pickaxe Recipe
You'll notice that the Mist Pickaxe Recipe is nowhere to be found after you've gotten it in the Forge. It's not in your inventory and it won't show up at the Forge. There are plenty of missing recipes you can find, but this is not one of them.
The solution is actually quite simple. All you have to do is just get the Mist Pickaxe, you don't have to use it in any way. Instead, once you get the recipe, just head to Miner Frank's shop and you'll be able to purchase it, provided you have the money to pay for it.
Is the Mist Pickaxe Worth it?
When it comes to purchasing, keep in mind that this is a Tier 2 pickaxe which costs $500k, which is not a small sum. Compared to the other Pickaxes available at the Frostspire Expanse shop, it's not really worth it. If you already have Arcane or Demonic Pickaxe, then you can use either one to grind out Ice Pebbles enough to purchase an Aqua Pickaxe, skipping the Mist entirely for the Snow Pickaxe after. The stats are not worth that price.

The current state of the Frostspear Expanse update is quite buggy. You might lose Ore, Rewards, and even levels if you aren't careful. It could be that the game just didn't register you getting the recipe. Try leaving the server you are on and joining back up again. If that doesn't work, then we suggest submitting a bug report on the official Forge Discord. Hopefully that saves it and your recipe.
While it has some good stats, the Mist Pickaxe really isn't worth it. The better progression plan would be for you to save up the money, especially if you have Arcane or Demonic Pickaxe already, and then purchasing the Aqua Pickaxe.
