Roblox finally unlocks FPS for smoother experience

Smooth operator.

Roblox has finally got a silky smooth feel to it, at least for PC players. You can now change the frame rate without third-party tools. The in-game option to change FPS will make the game run better on monitors with a high refresh rate.

Roblox now gives players the ability to choose from several different frame rate options: 60 (default), 120, 144, and 240 frames per second (FPS). While this is great news for PC players, this option has yet to be implemented on other platforms, such as mobile devices and PlayStation. The only official information for other platforms is that support for Mac is coming.

Higher frame rates mean that the game looks more fluid, especially on better computers. If your system can handle it, playing at 120 FPS or 144 FPS will make movements and animations look much less jerky compared to the standard 60 FPS.

You can test your Roblox gameplay with higher FPS, but be ready to return to 60 if you notice something weird happening. I've tested 120 FPS playing Fruit Seas and had no issues with the frame rate. My only problem was finding enough Beli, but that's nothing Fruit Seas codes can't handle.

You may experience issues with higher FPS settings even if you have a high-end PC. Some Roblox games may have technical issues because they don’t support more than 60 FPS. This may change in the future as more Roblox developers implement frame rate support.

While this is great news for gamers, some are skeptical, as many Roblox experiences are meant to be played at 60 FPS. Everything else may either break the game or create an advantage for a player with smoother movement. The truth is that third-party frame rate apps exist already, so having Roblox implement official FPS settings allows everyone to use different frame rates natively.
