The Snowy Mountain Update in Prospecting allows you travel to an arctic-themed island that has two areas for you to prospect in. There are also quests to complete, more prospecting gear to purchase, and minerals to unearth. This guide covers everything you should know about the Prospecting Snowy Mountain Update.

- New Equipment: Cryogenic Preserver (Necklace), Mythril Ring, Frosthorn Pendant. Complete the new quests at the Snowy Mountains island to get Equipment Blueprints and unlock the crafting recipes for the new equipment.
- New potions sold by the Traveling Merchant.
- Relics can now be sold.
How to Get To The Snowy Mountains in Prospecting?
Snowy Mountains is a new island added to Prospecting with the Snowy Mountain update. You can travel to the island by talking to the Arctic Traveler, an NPC standing on the docks of Caldera Island.
When you talk to him, he will ask you to find something to melt the ice and open the way to the Snowy Mountains so he can go there and take you along as well. After the dialogue ends, equip the Dragonflame Shovel and talk to him again. If you don’t have the Dragonflame Shovel, you can purchase it at the Magma Furnace for $400,000,000.
When you talk to him with the Dragonflame Shovel equipped, he’ll reward you with $1,000,000 Cash, 100,000 EXP, and 250 Shards. You can now also ask him to take you to the Snowy Mountains island.
Once you land at the new island, there is a waypoint to the right of the docking area. Interact with it so you can easily travel here without having to talk to the Arctic Traveler again and again. There are three areas in the Snowy Mountains:
- Frostbite River - Toughness 5.
- Frostbite Waterfall - Toughness 6.
- Frozen Peak - Toughness 6.
New Pan, Shovel, and Sluice Location in Prospecting
The new pan, shovel, and sluice of the Snowy Mountains island is at the top of the main mountain. However, you cannot just climb to the top. Instead, you have to complete some quests to clear the path to the mountain peak.
- From the main spawn area of the Snowy Mountain island, head left until you reach the crafting station.
- Right across from the Blacksmith NPC, you’ll see a ladder. Climb up that ladder and keep to your left to find and climb another ladder.
- After that, slide right and keep going until you climb up two more ladders and find the Builder NPC.
Talking to him will start the Repairing the Bridge quest. To complete this quest, you have to:
- Collect 250 Blue Ice.
- Collect 200 Titanium.
- Collect 100 Glacial Quartz.
- Collect 50 Cobalt.
You can grind for all these minerals at the Frostbite River. Fast travel back to Fortune River Delta to get Titanium quickly.
Once you collect all these materials, go back and talk to the Builder NPC once again. He will repair the bridge, which you can now use to access the top of the mountain. You’ll also get $10,000,000 Cash, 250,000 EXP, 1 Blueprint, and 800 Shards.
Once the quest is complete and the bridge is repaired, you can now start climbing up the mountain using the various ladders placed in different areas. Keep climbing until you reach the Mountain Surveyor NPC. He will give you the Clearing the Path quest, for which you have to collect the following items:
- Collect 500 Blue Ice.
- Collect 200 Glacial Quartz.
- Collect 20 Aquamarine.
- Collect 20 Tourmaline.
Go back to the Frostbite River to find these ores. Once you have all the items, climb back and talk to the Mountain Surveyor NPC once again. The first part of the quest is now complete. You will get $25,000,000 Cash, 500,000 EXP, and 1,500 Shards. Now, the second part of the quest begins as the Mountain Surveyor will ask you to bring him the following two items:
- 1 Volcanic Core.
- 1 Vortessence.
If you’ve been grinding at the Magma Furnace, you might already have both of these items. Give them to the Mountain Surveyor to complete his quest. As soon as his dialogue ends, you’ll see the blocked path behind him get cleared.
Now, you can access the Frozen Peak area that has a waypoint, a Merchant, another quest NPC (Mountain Climber), and the new Pan, Shovel, and Sluice. From the entrance of the Frozen Peak, go left to find them sitting between two giant crystals. See the stats and price of the new prospecting gear in the table below:
