Roblox: How to Fish in Islands

It's time to take part in the calming activity that is fishing. If you're wondering what's going on with this new mechanic in the game, then we'll explain everything you need to know in our Islands aka Skyblock How to Fish post!

Fishing Guide

Fishing can only currently be done at the main hub area of Islands! The pond is located to the left side of the map, where you can take a fishing rod and catch yourself some fish.

Step 1: Create a Fishing Rod

You will first need to craft a fishing rod to go fishing. Go to your workstation and you can craft one, it will only cost you 10x wood. It's an easy recipe, so you won't need to be very far in the game to create it.

Step 2 (Optional): Craft Bait

You can craft fishing bait which will give you luck that should give you a better chance to obtain rare fish and items. Each bait will require you to have 3x carrots to craft, so you might want to think about starting a carrot farm if you haven't already.

Step 3: Go Fishing

Head through the purple portal on your island to the vendor island. Go to the left of the crop and seed vendors and you will see a pool of water. Equip your fishing pool and look for a fish in the pond. You need to be fairly close to it, and once you are you can click and you will cast out your line. If it's close enough to the fish, it will swim over to it, and your bobber will start spinning. Once you see bubbles start to shootout, you can then click again and you reel in a fish or item! If you want to use your bait, I'm pretty sure you need to have it on your toolbar to use it.

You can swim around the fish to get closer to them, they won't be scared away. You can also click and hold when you're going to cast your line, the longer you hold it the further it will go. It's likely easier just to swim close to the fish, but it's up to you!

Aquamarine Update

In the Aquamarine update, you can now do some fishing over at Slime Island! You no longer need a Slime Key, so just head through the portal at the hub and you'll find a pond there to the left. Feel free to do some fishing in those waters as well.

Fish & What-to Do With Them!

There's 11 current fish in the game that you can find in the pond. Here's a list of the currently known fish and what they sell for:

  • Salmon: 3 Coins
  • Trout: 3 Coins
  • Carp: 3 Coins
  • Catfish: 5 Coins
  • Red Snapper: 10 Coins
  • Blue Tang: 10 Coins
  • Clownfish: 15 Coins
  • Talapia: 30 Coins
  • Grouper: 30 Coins
  • Eel: 140 Coins
  • Swordfish: 500 Coins

You can either sell the fish you catch, or you can use them to create fertilizer in the composter. I didn't see any recipes for cooking yet, but I'm sure those will come. The Fisherman vendor is right next to the fishing pond, so just talk to him to sell your catch.

You can also catch a propeller as well as pearls when you go fishing. These are pretty rare drops, but they will pop up every now and again. They can be used for crafting washing machines that will clean up oily produce.
