It's not surprising that Rune Slayer, a role-playing game, also features factions on top of all other mechanics, such as race, class, quests, and even pets. But getting into a faction is not an easy task, as you might come across some of the deadliest mobs in the game. So here's a rundown of all Factions in Rune Slayer and how you can join them.
How to Join Holy Faction in Rune Slayer
In order to join the Holy Faction in Rune Slayer, you need to talk to Arthiel, the Sacred Blade in Knight's Templar near Lakeshire. Here's a step-by-step guide on how you can get there:
First, climb the mountains directly behind the Adventurer's Guild building (west side of the town). On the hill above, you'll find a pond that extends into a river. Just follow the river, and eventually, you’ll see an arch carved into the mountain across it on the left. Pass the arch, and you'll see the entrance to Lakeshire.
Once at Lakeshire, take a left from the entrance and skirt around the walls until you find a cave. Speak to the guard there and take the lift. Be careful not to move while on it, or you might clip through and fall. Once at the top, turn left and climb the rocks that lead to an opening in the hill. Here, take a right and climb the mountain, and you will be right at Knight's Templar.
Finally, go across the room, and you will find Arthiel standing alongside some swords and shields. Interact with him and select "I want to join your cause." to join the Holy Faction.
How to Join Demon Faction in Rune Slayer
Similar to the Holy Faction, you need to find and talk to Malzareth, the Worldscorcher in Demon Sect located at Balgaron Chasm, to join the Demon Faction. Here's how you can get there:
From Knight's Templar, head back down to where the lift dropped you. Walk toward the guard on the right side of the door and pay him five Silver to open it. If you are new to the game and don't know where to get Silver, have a look at our Ultimate Rune Slayer Beginner's Guide.
Once through the door, dragon-like mobs called Imps will start attacking, so don't stop running, as their attacks can kill you. Inside Balgaron Chasm, take the first right and then left to cross the narrow bridge.
Continue forward until you reach another similar bridge and cross it as well. After that, jump onto the wall in front of you to land on a ledge. Keep repeating this until you are all the way down and come across an area with red blocks.
Follow these blocks, and soon, you'll come across scattered bones, just ahead of which, you'll see a massive hole with lava flowing through it. Carefully jump from one ledge to another to descend further, and you'll find yourself right in front of the Demon Sect stronghold.
Inside Demon Sect, you can find Malzareth standing alongside a soldier. Talk to him and select "I would like to join you in desecrating this world." to join the Demon Faction.

Can you join multiple factions?
No, you can join only one faction at a time in Rune Slayer.
Can you leave a faction?
Unfortunately, you can not leave a faction once you join it. You'll have to play on a new slot to do that.
Do you get buffs from joining a faction?
Currently, there are no buffs or any additional stats to increase when joining a faction.
