Secret Agent Makes Animal Hospital Easier – But Is It Really Worth Four Times More Than Head Nurse?

Paying four times more for Secret Agent Class in Animal Hospital. Justified?

Quick Verdict: Head Nurse costs 80 Robux and Secret Agent costs 320 Robux, four times more. Secret Agent is the stronger combat class and the best choice when anomalies are the problem, but Head Nurse's inventory advantage applies to every single shift rather than only dangerous encounters. For most players, especially beginners, Head Nurse is the better Robux purchase. Secret Agent earns its price in longer, harder runs where anomalies appear frequently and your team needs someone dedicated to deal with them.

Getting into the crux of this argument, we've decided to breakdown this class and go through its cost and compare it to the value it provides, especially in contrast to its close alternative, the Head Nurse class, which is one of, if not the top premium class currently in Animal Hospital.

To make sure this was a fair evaluation, we did a series of runs with both the classes under different circumstances to gauge both of their statistics, and how well they performed in each scenario.

NOTE: All runs were made using Level 1 Classes.

During solo play, the verdict stands on the side of Head Nurse. While the Secret Agent does have an edge against dealing with Anomalies, saving you valuable time, the Head Nurse has a clear advantage in terms of consistence performance across all rounds.

The Head Nurse did need more trips to the Supply Shop to stack up on weapons against anomalies and Sanity regen items in comparison to the Secret Agent. Moreover, the Secret Agent does really bad during Special Shifts like Ambulance Emergency and Hazmat Teams.

When playing with a team, we observed that the Secret Agent provides a slight advantage, which carries it a bit further in the late game in comparison to the Head Nurse. Does that mean it's worth four times as much? Not really.

During team runs, if you're playing the Secret Agent, your full time job would be to take care of all sorts of anomalies, while the rest of your team handles patients. The script flips when you're playing the Head Nurse. Both classes struggle with sanity management though, since they don't have any base regen options like the Doctor and Surgeon class.

How To Best Use Secret Agent Class in Animal Hospital

Even though you might feel the Secret Agent is overpriced, you can still get a ton of value using this class and carry your team into the late game. Afterall, no other class in Animal Hospital can deal with high-threat anomalies as decisively as the Secret Agent. So, here's all the tips you need to follow:

  1. Always play with a Team: The best value you get from Secret Agent is when you play with a team. Especially, when you have team mates with Head Nurse or Surgeon classes that can deal with all the patients which is where Secret Agent falls behind.
  2. Search for Anomalies: You can do your team a huge favor by actively searching for anomalies while they focus on treating patients. The Gun can deal with almost every anomaly and if you've leveled up your Secret Agent to Level 3, this will reward you with Sanity and Cash.
  3. Save Scanner for Special Shifts: The Scanner, which is a new starting item for the Secret Agent can help you identify Anomalies by scanning any patient. While you can identify most of them easily, you should ideally use it during Special Shifts like Ambulance where tons of patients are rushed in without any checks. Since it has an almost 3 minute CD, save it for these events.

TIP: You get the best ROI on your purchase of the Secret Agent class when it reaches Level 3. It provides +4 Sanity Regen and +5 Cash for every Anomaly killed with the gun. This makes you almost independent of Sanity Regen items in the late game when the Hospital with sprawling with Anomalies.

The Head Nurse, in contrast, is a much cheaper option to the Secret Agent class and can provide substantial value if played correctly. That is because more inventory slots means less resupply runs, faster response to emergencies, and the ability to carry a balanced mix of healing items at all times. Here are some tips you need to follow to maximize the value you get:

  1. Always Carry Healing Items: The strongest feature of the Head Nurse class is the huge inventory space of 6 items. You need to get the most value out of it by carrying as many healing items as possible to ensure you treat patients quicker without running to resupply every few seconds.
  2. Be In-Charge of Treatment: The Head Nurse thrives during patient treatment. So, do not waste your time dealing with Anomalies or checking in patients, keep them for your teammates who might have classes better suited for those jobs.
  3. Manage Your Sanity: The only shortcoming of the Head Nurse class is that you don't have any action which can regen your Sanity like the Secret Agent, Doctor or Surgeon classes. So, you need to carry Coffee or Chocolate Bars from the Supply Shop at all times to make sure you don't end up dying.

TIP: If you cannot afford the Head Nurse class, simply buy the Nurse class for 20 Animal Coins and level it up at Level 3. A max level nurse class with the Special Technique upgrade from the Supply Shop is the same as a max level Head Nurse.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How frequently are the Gun and Scanner genuinely needed?

Based on our observations, the Secret Agent's Gun and Scanner are needed in almost every shift to deal with Anomalies. But ideally, the Scanner should only be saved for emergency shifts.

Can F2P classes replace Secret Agent or Head Nurse?

For the Secret Agent, you can use the Security or Firefighter as an alternative, but their starting items the Taser and Fire Extinguisher respectively cannot deal with every Anomaly like the Gun. But you can completely replace the Head Nurse with the regular Nurse class and buying the 'Special Technique' from the Supplies Shop.

Does extra inventory space actually saves time in Animal Hospital?

Yes. When you have extra inventory space, you can carry lot of treatment items, and when using a class like Head Nurse, you can use all required items at once to heal patients much quicker in comparison to other classes and running across the lobby collecting treatment items.
