How to beat the final boss, Yang The Leader, in Sifu?

Dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge.

After fighting your way through four tough bosses and five tough levels, it all comes down to a final two-phase duel between you and the final boss of Sifu, Yang The Leader.

Firstly, you cannot rely on your focus skills for this entire fight, as they are locked out. Also, Yang will often wait for you to make the first move, then he'll unleash a lightning-fast onslaught of high and low attacks that he, and the game, expect you to dodge at point-blank range.

There's no beating around the bush. During the first phase (and the entire fight), you'll have to simply learn how to stand toe-to-toe with Yang, flicking your dodge stick to perfectly slip each of his rapid-fire attacks. If you slip his final attack of each volley, you'll get a small window to inflict some damage with a couple of heavy strikes or your favorite quick-strike combo.

It's a tough fight, but the rhythm and patterns of his attacks are somewhat easy to grasp. Endure and avoid each assault and get your shots in. Eventually, you'll whittle him down and take the fight to the next, even tougher phase.

After a short cutscene, the fight will commence. Yang is now armed with orange super attacks that end many of his new combos, dealing devastating damage if you're caught with one. Yang will still bait you into attacking, but in this phase, once you throw a punch, he'll unleash a devastating counter.

Your strategy will mostly remain the same:

  • Engage Yang toe-to-toe, taking extra care to avoid his final attack of each combo
  • If he's still, advance toward him but always make him attack first.
  • Keep dodging. Your skill with that dodge mechanic is absolutely the key to this fight.

Yang will certainly test the bounds of both your offensive and defensive skills in a truly brilliant final duel that spotlights the beauty and fluidity of Sifu's fun combat system. Keep with him and eventually, you'll end the fight.

Note: For the true ending on your second playthrough, there is a third phase to this fight that mimics the second. Use the same strategy and chip away at his health until you win.
