Best starting Archetype for Teddy Redgrave in Sovereign Syndicate

Brains meets brawn.

As you begin Chapter 3 of Victorian RPG Sovereign Syndicate, you will take control of yet another character, Teddy Redgrave. If you’re asking yourself what the best choice of starting Archetype is for this mechanically inclined monster hunter, read on.

Which Archetype should you choose for Teddy? (Sovereign Syndicate)

We meet Teddy briefly in Chapter 1 when Atticus has the opportunity to sell him Cogs in the Bathhouse. Teddy is a battle-hardened Dwarf with a lot of tough life experience behind him. But while his survivability is rooted in combat skills, he is also a skilled mechanic.

To further complicate matters, he is well-liked in London amongst the people you talk to as well as being polite and hard-working. This makes it tough to choose the best Archetype to marry these Attributes together.

The best Archetype for Teddy Redgrave is Ingenuity. The Ingenuity attribute allows you to do well when looking at or fixing mechanical items, which is right in his wheelhouse.  He can also fight when required, thanks to a higher Impulse stat, but there’s also a bonus to Empathy which will help when talking to NPCs.

You will be able to complete the game no matter which route you decide to take in terms of Teddy’s Archetype. You’ll simply miss out on a few dialogue choices and have more difficulty completing certain challenges as you progress. However, saving regularly allows you to reroll failed tests, so with patience you can still succeed at everything.

As with Atticus and Clara, Teddy has a unique set of attributes. If you want more help on which attributes may best suit how you want to play Teddy, I’ve described them below.

What do Teddy’s Attributes do in Sovereign Syndicate?

Teddy is unique in that he has his friendly automaton Otto with him at all times. While Otto often gets involved in conversations, you still need to fix on a set Archetype that will boost the Attributes you want to concentrate Teddy’s skills on most.

  • Impulse: A little like Atticus, this version of Teddy is happy to plow into challenge fists first.
  • Ingenuity: You're innately shrewd and intelligent thanks to your mental skill with systems and structures. All business, straight to the point.
  • Analysis: Unlike Ingenuity, Analysis is about what you've achieved intellectually with your further studies. You use that knowledge to study situations and items.
  • Empathy: You have great people skills, allowing you to empathize - or appear to - with people and situations. You can also make observations about them.
