How to change between Inkling and Octoling in Splatoon 3

Need to change things up?

At the start of Splatoon 3, you are tasked with designing your character. The first choice you have is to pick between an Inkling and Octoling. While this doesn't affect many in-game mechanics, it will determine what hairstyles you can choose from. This may leave you wondering if you can change between Inkling and Octoling in Splatoon 3.

To change your face and switch back and forth between the Inkling and Octoling in Splatoon 3:

  1. Press the X button to open the menu.
  2. Scroll to the Options tab.
  3. Navigate to Other and select Player Settings. This will reset your character and allow you to switch between Inkling and Octoling.

You can also change your hairstyle, eye color, eyebrows, and legwear in Player Settings.

If you want to customize your character's hairstyle, eyebrows, and legwear, simply press the + button. Scroll to Other in this menu and go to Style. This will let you change your character's looks without restarting from scratch.

We recommend this second method if you simply want to freshen up your look without changing your Inkling or Octoling to the other. It is much quicker and allows you to alter your look on the fly. Otherwise, use the Player Settings option to get a brand-new look.
