Where and how to capture all Salutors in The Thaumaturge

It’s really important to find, capture, and control each salutor in The Thaumaturge. Even if you’re not interested in the salutor itself, you will be blocked from progressing along its related Dimension skill branch until you do. This will limit your ability to claim new skills and upgrades, as well as bonuses to your Health and Focus.

Each salutor will also offer a unique set of combat skills that will inevitably be useful against particular types of enemies. Having all of them available is always a positive, as you can switch between salutors at will during each round of combat. Note that the following contains spoilers

How to control Upyr in The Thaumaturge

Upyr is your first salutor but it is not available to use in battle until you have been hypnotized by Rasputin in the village during the Shadows of Sins Past quest. After this, you’ll have a very useful Heart Dimension salutor at your command.

Upyr’s strength is focused on Health, both yours and your enemy’s. He has both quick and slow attacks that also heal you, while his middle attack deals more damage the more health the opponent has. His Focus ability removes all negative status effects on you, which is very useful if you’re hit with any DOTs.

How to capture Bukavac in The Thaumaturge

You will be able to track down Bukavac, your second salutor, while you are still in the village. You simply need to follow the main storyline in the village, Shadows of Sins Past, and you’ll uncover the person who hides them. This will be your first salutor battle and you’ll get a prompt to change the difficulty before it begins.

Bukavac is from the Deed Dimension. Its fast and slow attacks both inflict a DOT called Suffering, while its medium attack works faster the less Health the opponent has. It doesn’t have a Focus attack, instead having an extra quick standard attack that deals more damage the more enemies are currently Suffering. Bukavac can be devastating if paired with your skill upgrades that also cause Suffering.

How to capture Veles in The Thaumaturge

Once the main story leads to Warsaw, and you’ve been through the funeral, you will begin the game’s third main quest, The Reptilian Bash. Attend the soiree, take part in the seance with Madame Samira, and you’ll be able to capture Veles, a Word Dimension salutor.

Veles offers a little bit of everything, including healing you, potentially interrupting and canceling enemy attacks, and dealing massive damage.  However, all of these things are predicated on you being lucky as each major bonus has a 50 percent chance of success. If you like to reload save games a lot or are in a bind and need a hail mary, Veles is the salutor for you.

How to capture Lelek in The Thaumaturge

Screenshot by Pro Game Guides

After the will reading, and a failed search for your father’s grimoire, you’ll begin the sixth main story quest, Bastards of the Night. A turbulent evening with an old friend, Abaurycy Niedzic, will lead you to your fourth demonic acquisition, the Mind Dimension salutor Lelek.

I found this to be the first very tough salutor battle. My advice is to concentrate on fast focus-reducing attacks, using your strong attack to dispatch each enemy once their Focus is gone.

Three of Lelek’s attacks reduce Focus while also protecting you, transferring your negative states to enemies, or interrupting attacks. Its slow attack, Dead Man’s Wailing, does solid damage while also reducing every enemy’s Focus by 1. It’s a salutor that requires a little more planning than the others but when you get it right, Lelek can be devastating.

How to capture Morana in The Thaumaturge

You can begin the hunt for Morana, the second mind dimension salutor, during Chapter 1. Finding her is an optional quest, which you can start by heading to the waterfront in Powisle. You can do this after the will reading. For a full guide to how to find and capture her, check out, How to capture T2 Mind Dimension salutor in The Thaumaturge.

How to capture the Djinn in The Thaumaturge

The Djinn is the second Heart Dimension salutor, which opens up the rank 3 attacks and skills in the Heart tree. You can only try to find it once you begin Chapter 2, as the Mirow area is not available until then. Other than this, there are no other requirements to catching it.

Go to Mirow and visit the Nozyk Synagogue. Talk to the Rabbi there and resolve the issue with the workmen. The Rabbi will then invite you into his office. Once inside, read the note there from the late Rabbi Sofer, which starts the quest entitled Fearless.

Move to Grzybowska Street and follow the clues into the market. Find more clues there that lead you to the flower seller. Talk to her and she'll create a distraction, getting you into a fight. After winning the battle follow her out of the market, then to her home, and then to the Harem. During your meeting there, you will be able to face and then capture the Djinn.

How to capture the Golem in The Thaumaturge

To capture the Golem in The Thaumaturge, follow the main story quest, All Our Curses, in Chapter 2. This will lead to another main story quest, Clay Ambitions. During this, be sure to take on your sister's flaw when given the opportunity. You will also need to double-cross Ariel Rofe, and take the salutor for yourself when prompted. This could lead to making a powerful enemy...
